CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Two parents are facing charges after they allegedly tried to kill their 17-year-old daughter outside a high school.www.kptv.com
Cell phone video of the attack showed the father, Ihsan Ali, choking his daughter as other students and bystanders tried to intervene to save her.
According to probable cause documents emailed to The Center Square from the Thurston County Prosecutor's Office, the victim passed out several times during the attack, before being able to escape and run into the nearby school building with her 16-year-old boyfriend, who was also assaulted as he attempted to intervene to help his girlfriend.
Detective Sgt. Jeremy Knight with the Lacey Police Department said the girl was seriously injured.
The issues with the Alis have been going on for months with one prior incident forcing them to get a temporary protection order against Zahraa Ali. Court records state the mother was also banned from stepping onto school property.
“A lot of these stories exist. A lot of these stories are out here. Some aren’t able to be heard for whatever reason. I just want people to be aware these stories do exist,” Barnes said.
How is it that only NY Post and local news affiliates have covered this story, and no major national news outlets?
Because it was not a school shooting. There is no political leverage to be had.

First, honor killings are abhorrent, however it was attempted, not successful. I‘m not surprised it stayed local. I think of my local news, they report murders that never make it to national news. And sadly, if she was murdered, it would have only mattered if she was a beautiful white woman.
As to school shootings, well at this point we are numb anyway. If mowing down 6 year olds couldn’t start a national movement, then nothing will. School shootings have become no more tragic than road accident statistics.
