  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

America needs to be a meritocracy

And if you are worried that you think that means there will be less minority CEOs you just think minorities aren't good enough to earn those positions on their own accord.

Almost as white as a Mr. Clean convention.

Im not saying he's racist. Maybe he just doesn't know enough minorities that make the cut to be good enough to work for him.

When I think of meritocracy, I think of the best and the brightest. Many (or most) of the Cabinet selections have been criticized for inexperience, and there have been serious concerns about Gabbard's close friendship with Putin and the leader of Syria; RFK Jr.'s anti-vaxxing stance; Gaetz' alleged drug-fueled romps with teenage girls--and his leaving Congress early in order to prevent the House Ethics Report from being released; Wright's ownership of a company that handles 20% of the fracking in the country--a gigantic conflict of interest.

So I'm not sure whether there is meritocracy at the highest levels.

It seems to me that Filipkowski, who's avatar ironically looks like Mr. Clean, is the one making it about skin color. It seems to me the bulk of those who make skin color an issue in general are white people. Primarily white liberals. Where are all of the 'Blacks for Trump' expressing outrage over this?

I wasn't even thinking about "meritocracy" as being without race. Because we all need to remember that the most common, pervasive form of "affirmative action" is connections. It seems as if the anti-meritocracy I referred to in my previous post was the affirmative action of connections.

When I think of meritocracy I think about Ketanji Brown Jackson. When she was appointed, charts were shown comparing her education and experience at the time of her appointment with every other appointee--Democrat or Republican--in the 21st century, and her education and experience were superior to all of them--including Chief Justice Roberts.

How in the world could they have missed this shining star all these years, I thought. What a fitting successor to RBG.

I have no doubt that some people might believe she was picked because of her race and gender, but she is the most meritorious of a nine-member meritocracy.

But as long as she has dark skin they still feel okay asking the question.

Didn't 86% of Black voters vote for Kamala?

If the available pool is much smaller - isn't it only logical that there would be less exceptional individuals to choose from?
