I agree to be gracious to the needy, but if I may, I will help define what the needy are in terms of immigration. First, are all illegals poor and needy? Some may just need a better country. That is fine, but currently, many Americans are waiting in a 1-2 year line for their loved ones, even spouses to get in the USA. Are they in many cases even more needy? Should the undocumented be treated better than them? Undocumented do not have required physicals, sponsorship with income requirements, and fees that are around 2,000 dollars.
Also, currently the USA treats the most needy non-resident aliens the worst when it comes to immigration. Some foreign citizens can't even get a transit visa for the USA. A tourist visa from Nigeria for instance is at least a two year wait. Meanwhile the richer EU citizen does not need any visa.
So the entire immigration system is not only broken, but it discriminates against the poor and against those that wait in line. I feel some compassion for the undocumented, but in perspective there are others that are far more needy than at least some of them. Also if we are going to only go by need alone, then the USA should open their doors far more for certain countries, but immigration rarely works like that.
I will say that I have trust in Gov. Noem to lead the USA in helping bring better order out of the entire US immigration system. God bless America.
