  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Here are some of the best reactions from the Left after Trump’s historic victory

This idea that everyone should have to wear kid gloves and cater their response to the level of emotion someone else is demonstrating (regardless of how wildly out of proportion it is with the thing they're upset about) is silly and unreasonable.

People had no problem making fun of the buffalo hat guy for storming the capital...why?, because he did something really stupid for a really stupid reason.

When a satire news site published the headline:

FBI Finds Jacob Chansley Grazing at Yellowstone Park
(with this picture)

1731369849439.png

Was anyone rushing in to say, "You know, it's really not funny to make fun of someone else who was really upset about something"?

Did anyone pull any punches when that quack "Dr." Tenpenny gave a teary-eyed impassioned speech to the legislature claiming that covid vaccines were making people magnetic, and then proceeded to try to stick a magnet to someone's arm as proof and it immediately fell to the floor on live TV?

Was anyone saying "y'know, it's just not funny to take joy in the misfortune of others, this person was clearly hurting"

This idea that we should calculate the level of merit based on the level of emotion someone's displaying (for political partisan reasons) isn't consistent with how we'd treat the non-political instances of that.

If someone got their McDonald's order back, and their bun was missing the sesame seeds, and they proceeded to film a 5-minute rant in the car where they're crying, swearing, and punching their steering wheel and saying "I hate this country" we'd all probably find some level of humor in that. And nobody would suggest "sesame seeds missing from the burger bun is a serious issue we need to be sensitive about...I mean, look how upset it made them"

In this or that tradition wasnt the claim. It was that theres no such thing generally. But the woman pastor here seems pretty genuine.

From his perspective, women ministers aren’t real ministers. If that makes sense.

Thats fine.

Just dont talk about ones own perspective as if it defines reality for everyone.

These people are utterly incapable of the kind of introspection that would be necessary in order for them to realize the extent to which they are responsible for Trump being elected.
Can't remember if it was this thread or another one...

But I did touch on this bit.

The mainstream democrats (and their media allies), in no uncertain terms, made it pretty clear that centrists and moderates weren't welcome there...

Surprise surprise, there's a big chunk of the American population that fit that criteria.

A few will defect to the other side out of spite, and many will just stay home.

If you look at the numbers of the 2020 election vs. 2024, Trump's vote count was relatively static (between 73-74 million votes both times). The Democratic vote count dropped by nearly 10 million. While Trump picking up a few additional votes among some unexpected demographics accounts for some of it, it certainly doesn't account for 10 million.

There were a lot of people who voted Biden in 2020, but opted to vote for Couch/Pizza in 2024. (I'm one of them)

However, when they say Trump will put people in concentration camps and compare him to Hitler....that's WHERE I draw a line. Fear mongering must stop. It doesn't help anyone.
But Donald has explicitly said he would put people in concentration camps - if you consider undocumented aliens to be people (not you personally).

Donald should stop spouting Nazi rhetoric if he would not like to be compared to Hitler. I assume you've already seen direct comparisons of Donald's and Adolf's incendiary statements. Remember, folk, the first people rounded up were political opponents. He expanded from there. According to FY, Donald is putting white nationalist Stephen Miller on in his administration as Deputy Chief of Staff.

Some Hitler/Donald comparisons are apt and others are not. Even when they are, they may not be useful.

Yes, you are. Your perspective is that my perspective is wrong.
Did I? Your perspective may in fact be right (or wrong) for all I know. But I dont think you can tell a pastor here that she isnt in fact a pastor because of your "perspective".

He can, did, and will continue to do so. Oh yeah, along with the "Revoke the 19th Amendment" next to the username. It'd be a mildly effective troll tactic if they were trying, but they're likely 100% serious.

You dont have to respect her.

Just dont chalk it up to some fabricated personal failing about not speaking the same night as the election. Shes going to speak today, which is plenty soon enough.

Plus, we'll see what kind of concession speech she makes.

I don't know if anyone else pointed this out because I haven't read the thread yet but I want to say the outrage about her behavior is not a fabrication.

It screams sore loser.

Why?

Because there is a group you organized and hand-picked to be there to celebrate your win. They are your biggest donors, your biggest supporters and most loyal staff, all there to share the moment you have all worked together for, including media.

Even if you're not ready to concede yet, say you weren't yet sure about the vote count you should still go out and say a few words.

"It's looking like we might not win but there still may be a glimmer of hope yet so we will see what further counting brings"

Then you add some kind words about everyone's hard work and invaluable support and offer the gathering to enjoy the night and celebrate regardless for the job everyone has done...

Then you spend an hour or so, maybe 30 minutes if you want to cut it shorter, hobnobbing with the crowd and supporters and thank everyone more personally.

That's what human beings do, and what human beings expect. You don't just not show up for the people who showed up for you in every way they could, at your own party.

It's about good sportsmanship when you lose, and remembering the people who care about you, and making sure they know they are appreciated.
