  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My final thoughts is that if you feel called to evangelism in the streets and are doing it out of love for God and others, then i see it as admirable and good, but does that other stuff really need to be captured on video, then displayed on a public forum for all to see?

Love covers a multitude of sins.

It's between you and God. I personally disagree with posting on a public forum. We all have our weak, stupid moments and i can confidently say most of us, if not all, would not want it on public display.

I'd argue, at any point in which the people in the video did not consent to the footage being there.

We should then contact all the hundreds of YouTube channels that have street evangelism to ask them to remove their content.

Because the majority does it, doesn't make it ok. We are just telling you how it comes across to us and it is something you can take to the Lord in prayer. It is ultimately between you and God.

That said, love the idea of street evangelism. Don't see much of that nowadays. I think the evangelism is great.

I also did not agree with her comments, but i also don't feel it needed to be displayed in public, but as i said, between you and God.

I think this topic now extends further than being about the original posters post. I think those very much involved in witnessing perhaps should be involved in a wider debate on this.

What you don't want to happen is that witnessing becomes something that is tarred in the public image because of privacy concerns. Perhaps as well some people trust people representing religion when they talk with them and wouldn't expect to find themselves in a catalogue online like this.

I keyed these words in Google and got some interesting results "embarrassing people in social media Bible." Even just the first few results perhaps enhance this debate.

If any of the people producing them asked my opinion, I would say the same; obtain people's consent to publish footage of them.
