  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

When a friend is sick, in serious distress, suffering from physical pains and mental anguish, how does a Christian become an instrument of God in the treatment of the wounds that sin leaves? Is it enough to listen, just listen without condemnation, patiently caringly and lovingly listen. What about doing, is offering prayer and following through on the prayer enough? What if distance makes nearly all practical help difficult or even impossible? What is being an instrument of God then?

Follow the clear commands of Jesus.

Mark 16: they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover

Or James 5:14

Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

It seems to be me you are doing really good things to support your friend and in line with Galatians 6:2. Being non judgemental and supportive is important to someone when they are in such distress. Everyone is different, so it is useful sometimes to ask them how best they can be supported and what they find helpful. They will give you the best guide to go.
