  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

WASHINGTON (OSV News) — Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump made their closing arguments of the 2024 campaign in separate events in the final stretch of the 2024 campaign cycle.

Polls of the contest showed a tight race as the contentious and historic election season drew to a close, with an Oct. 25 New York Times/Siena College poll finding the pair tied 48% to 48%.

But the presidential election isn’t the only race Americans will consider Election Day Nov. 5, which will also include races that determine control of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, as well as a host of ballot measures on issues including abortion.

Harris, Trump make final pitches

Mitchie, I don't see this article as illuminating "what we should expect" from
the election.

The professional commentators, don't want to try to predict the outcome.

The pope, himself, has said that (Catholic Christians) should not be single
issue voters, in an election such as this one.

You seem to focus on the topic of abortion on demand.
But Trump has given in on this, and is willing to go along with abortion before
a fixed number of weeks of life. So, Trump is not a candidate who is anti-abortion.

What is the point that you are trying to make?

I just woke up to hear his comment that Liz Cheney should face a firing squad.

Maher, Raskin: Outlets Saying Trump Called for Cheney’s Execution ‘Lying’, He Said What Hippies Used to

During the “Overtime” segment of Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher said that media outlets that accused 2024 Republican presidential candidate former President Donald Trump called for the execution of former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) were lying and what Trump said “is exactly what hippies always said.” And “the spirit of it is something that if someone with a blue hat said it, people would nod along on the left.” And Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) agreed that Trump’s words were distorted.

Use a primary source! Listen to the hateful incendiary and typical words he says--on video.

Where is that rule written, that we must use information sources that you approve of?
Listen to what he says. Watch the actual event where he spoke if you have a strong enough stomach to do so. You can always change the channel if it is too violent and shocking to see.
