  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

As the Hebrew word for devil means 'one who obstructs or opposes', then yes humans are just as adversarial to the will of God as are the rebellious elohim, both choosing to put their will first to suit their desires
Are you going to declare people devils or just skirt?

salvation is a free gift.
The gift is that we are washed and cleansed in the Blood of Jesus and we can throw our filthy old rags away. Only some people would prefer to wear rags and not put on their new garment. A gift has to be received.

No, thats a false works based salvation, if you have to give up all your sins to be saved, then nobody is saved because everyone sins. A free gift is one that costs nothing.

Matthew 7:22 "And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." The NIV version uses the word "lawlessness".

Why does Jesus say: "depart from me"? Who is He talking to?

Jesus looked at Peter and spoke to Satan

Satan means adversary. Anyone who is adversarial to the will of God, as was Peter at the moment, was considered to be a satan. Simple understanding of the meanings of the day, available in any Judaic encyclopaedia

Yeah, I picked up on this from you awhile back. Glad you finally just came out and said it. That people are Satan. Which in orthodox territory is heresy, and rightfully so

Jesus didn't come to save Satan or devils or convert them

And Satan really does have his own identity, which happens to operate in mankind. Doesn't mean they are the same, the people and the adversary. Christianity 101

Most people believe that salvation is a reward you earn by living a good life, doing good works repenting of sins. But no, salvation is not a reward, salvation is a free gift. And just so we know that salvation is completely free by grace through faith in Jesus and our works have nothing to do with it, God will reward us based on following his commandments living a good life, Some will receive 5 cities, some 10, some peoples works will be completely burned up, yet they will still be saved. And we can earn rewards in this life as well for serving Jesus Christ. Jesus said there are those who will be least in the Kingdom but guess what they are still in the Kingdom, still saved. There are different levels of reward based on the works we do in the name of Jesus in this life. But it has to be in Jesus name to earn the rewards. And you don't have to do any works at all to be saved. salvation is Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, not about repenting of your sins cleaning up the life. those are good things to do but thats not salvation. it might give you physical salvation on this Earth, as God chasteneth every son whom he recieveth, God punishes us in this life for sinning, he could take you home early, but that has no impact on eternal life. Once you are born into God family you are always his, he doesn't kick you out of the family.

Romans 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
Why do you keep posting this nonsense? People keep on repeatedly quoting passages that prove you wrong and you just ignore them. Is that how you come to a full understanding of God’s word, by ignoring the passages that contradict your theology?

None of us can keep God's commandments, that's why Christ came. God did not give us commandments because we can fulfil them, but to show us our sinful nature and His perfect standard and glory. That's why Romans 3:23 says 'for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,'

Romans 3:10-12 '“There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one.”' You have no righteousness, so stop relying on yourself for salvation.

That's correct. Yet not one of us kept God's commandments, so we all deserve to be cursed. That's why God in His mercy sent His son, who obeyed God fully thus deserving blessings, yet He took our (believers) curse so believers through faith in Christ are blessed.
Romans 3:10-12 is not a literal statement it’s a proverbial statement quoted from psalms 14. The scriptures specifically state that some men were righteous, some did seek God, and did do good. Romans 3:10-12 is an exaggeration of the truth like if I were to say nobody goes to church anymore or nobody reads the bible. These aren’t statements of fact they’re an exaggeration of the fact that fewer people attend church and read the Bible than previously. Taking Romans 3:10-12 literally results in a direct contradiction of other passages.

No\ they aren't but they both follow the same principles of opposing the will of God (being adversarial/satanic in nature). Peter opposed the will of God and was therefore called an adversary to the will of God.

We all bear an evil conscience that always works against God and His Ways

Only those who are honest can discuss it, honestly

The source of that evil conscience is Satan, the tempter, our adversary

That doesn't make any person the same as our tormentor

Not if we are a born again believer in Jesus. We are a new creation, we put off the old and put on the new.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV):

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

This verse speaks to the transformative power of faith in Jesus, emphasizing that believers are renewed and set on a new path, leaving their old ways behind.

Another powerful passage is found in Ephesians 4:22-24 (NIV):

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

These verses encapsulate the idea of spiritual renewal and the ongoing process of sanctification in the life of a believer.

I'd suggest you're missing the point. We are tempted internally, in mind, by our adversary. So these are never questions of just you or me as individuals.

We're no better than any other sinner, Romans 3:9

All have sin, present tense

And sin is "of the devil," 1 john 3:8, Mark 4:15

When believers let themselves off the hook without factoring our adversary in these pictures they're basically claiming the same status for the tempter AND they eliminate facts that Jesus said were true, such as evil thoughts defining us, Mark 7:21-23
