  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Election officials in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, said they've found and halted hundreds of fraudulent voter registration applications from a batch of nearly 2,500 that were dropped off at the Board of Elections Office on or just before the voter registration deadline of Oct. 21.

An investigation by the district attorney's office found that the fake applications were linked to one or two organizations that conducted registration drives in the county ahead of the deadline, according to LancasterOnline, but officials did not name the organizations or provide information on who funded the canvassing. District Attorney Heather Adams said the fraud appeared to be an "'organized effort" and that 60% of the applications that have been reviewed contained fraudulent information, but did not say exactly how many of the 2,500 forms have been looked at.

Good - seems like the safeguards are working as they should. Based on the information I've been able to find, this seems like it's most likely employees of the canvassing companies making up registrations so that it looks like they're working when they're not or the canvassing organizations trying to pump up their numbers in order to seem bigger than they actually are (with the former being the more likely of the two). Having managed similar situations (temp employees paid to do public canvassing), this sort of thing is pretty common. Lazy workers combined with inadequate data review can cause a lot of issues.

No way. It's been insisted way too many times that sort of thing couldn't happen.

Where has anyone ever insisted that someone can't make up a voter registration application?
