  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Truth Social Users Are Losing Ridiculous Sums of Money to Scams

A site that has an older population with access to retirement funds and such are gonna be RIFE for this kind of abuse.

The dark part of me was gonna make a sarcastic comment about a gathering place for grifters. And while I'm sure it is, I still feel bad foe these old folks and I think they should not be online


Not without some online safety courses

AARP tries to educate seniors about scams.

Online scams are a good example of something that needs to be censored (this came up at the VP debate.)

Perhaps protective software could be developed for vulnerable seniors--sort of like the programs for protecting children.

Leave the older people alone!

Maybe the point is that DJT should have concern for us older people and have his site regularly policed for scanners.

Scam spam is everywhere on the internet. I doubt people are getting scammed more on truth social than anywhere else. I wouldn't be surprised if even CF had scam ads.

Another thing is the idea is probably to portray elderly people as mentally incompetent, since Trump is elderly.

While the claims in the article appear to be pure hearsay. "Another person in their 60s said they lost $500,000 to scammers on Truth Social". Oh well, that's good enough for me. I'm sure people in their 60s who are in command of a half million dollars get scammed at the drop of a hat.

this part of my post was me explaining my thought process for what i wanted to emphasize as my opinion on this article.
When I used the word "me" and "I"a few times, I was actually talking about me and not the author of the article, Matt Nichol.
