  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump of all people should stay well out of the way. He has no particular authority. And campaigning there at this moment is a bit grotesque.

Biden-Harris Administration Continues Whole-Of-Government Response to Hurricane Helene, Over 3,500 Federal Personnel Across North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina and Alabama

More than 3,500 personnel from across the federal workforce are deployed and supporting Hurricane Helene response efforts across the impacted states – more than 1,000 are from FEMA. Across the impacted states, FEMA has shipped over 1.9 million Meals Ready to Eat (MREs), more than 1 million liters of water, 30 generators and over 95,000 tarps.

The Biden-Harris Administration declared Major Disaster declarations for areas of Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina, allowing disaster survivors to begin their recovery process by applying for federal assistance through FEMA. People in 17 counties in Florida, 25 counties in North Carolina and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, as well as 13 counties in South Carolina can now apply for assistance with FEMA.

Is Trump holding campaign rallies in Georgia, and the other states hit hard by Hurricane Helene? No, he is not. Instead, he was there speaking to small groups of people and the press entourage.

I hope that FEMA will be able to help provide more food than only 2 million meals MREs.

Not rallies. But this is campaigning 100%.

Plus his presence was presented as "on the ground", which typically means youre at the situation - which he should not be. If he stays well away from affected areas, then he can blab away for all I care.

Yeah, actually he is. On Friday, he's going to be in Fayetteville, NC while Vance is going to be in Lindale, GA.

I'll concede that both of those cities are a few hours from the worst of the damage. But they are going there.

Obviously, I disagree with your conclusions. Trump wasn't there for a long time and his presence there didn't have a negative overall impact upon the "situation" at all.

By Friday, perhaps the people of Fayetteville will be more than happy AND ready to host a Trump rally. Hopefully, by Friday, Lindale Georgia will also be ready, willing, and able to host whatever JD Vance is going to be doing.

...I suppose Trump could visit and throw out rolls of paper towels and toilet paper...or promise not to eliminate FEMA.

But seriously, it's way too soon for major political figures to be in the region.

The POTUS and FEMA are supporting the impacted states.

Except that who said he was compaigining? I happen to live in GA abd while my area was not particularly hard hit we did lose power Friday morning at 5AM and just got it restored late this morning ( and many others are still without power) and I would MUCH rather vote for sommeone who care enough to be on the ground with the people directly affected than vote for someone who is out fund raising and/or just hanging out at the beach, but PARTICULARLY fundraising

Harris is fun raising
Harris cuts campaign trip short to visit FEMA for Helene briefing

Vice President Harris is cutting her campaign swing on the west coast short to return to Washington, D.C., for a briefing on Hurricane Helene.

A White House official said Harris will depart Las Vegas on Monday morning, canceling planned campaign stops, to head back to the nation’s capital. Harris will visit Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) headquarters for a briefing on the impacts of Helene and updates on the federal response, the official said.

Harris on Sunday spoke with North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper (D) about the aftermath of the storm and reached out to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) and Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R). Harris is expected to visit affected areas “as soon as it is possible without disrupting emergency response operations,” a White House official said.

wasting personal and tax payer money that could have gone to helping people wrought by the hurricane, and also building a podium out of a building hit by the hurricane.

Oh and lets not forget he will do nothing to fix climate change that is causing these.
