New Age is not a religion or system of belief as the
Wiki page shows.
New Age is a range of spiritual or religious practices and beliefs which rapidly grew in Western society during the early 1970s. Its highly eclectic and unsystematic structure makes a precise definition difficult.
Many people associate certain practices like paganism with it but that's incorrect. Nor do people identify as new agers. The majority believe in God or some conception of a higher force along with angels and negative entities. Their approach to faith is more relational than religious. They want to experience the divine personally and are less likely to compartmentalize their beliefs. They're integrated into daily living.
Spirituality is commonly viewed as those beliefs and practices one adheres to without a governing body like the church or system of adherence. Although they may draw inspiration from both. As for meditation, it's tuning the mind much like you'd do with an instrument. The stillness recenters and recalibrates. Expelling the excess and filling that space with peace and joy.
Imagine a glass of water and a pitcher. The container can only hold so much. If you add more liquid it will overflow eventually. If you want to replenish the contents you have to pour them out for fresh water to enter. We're like those containers and as we go through our days we take in a lot good and bad. But eventually we get too full and if we don't release we'll burst. You can accomplish the same through contemplative prayer.
In respect to crystals, they're natural elements imbued with certain qualities as are all things in nature. Add a plant to your environment and it begins to cleanse the air without your knowledge. Crystals behave in a similar fashion on the atmosphere. They emit and absorb. Some people put pieces around their home or carry them for similar reasons. They're not magical. That's a quality God endowed much like the plants. Many have healing properties and they're no different.
The Father has placed many things in our environment to enrich our mind, heal our body, calm the heart and soothe the spirit. Those who are more inclined towards spirituality than organized religion are seeking out those truths and exploring them. You can do the same as a believer. You can learn about the foods that heal, natural medicines, explore stillness, etc.
The path we traverse with the Lord is solitary. No two relationships are the same. The more you hunger for Him the more you'll get from the bond which may lead you to places others haven't explored or have no interest in discovering. You may find this
article helpful in sharing ideas on how to experience the Lord in your life in a deeper manner.
