New York City Mayor Eric Adams Indicted

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has been indicted on at least one federal criminal charge, multiple sources familiar with the matter tell CNN. The New York Times was first to report the news of the indictment.

The indictment follows a monthslong federal investigation by the US attorney’s office in Manhattan, which was reportedly scrutinizing his connection to Turkish officials and businessmen, and campaign donations he received. The charges he is facing are not publicly known at this time.

Adams has previously denied any wrongdoing, and he has frequently repeated that he told members of his campaign and administration to follow the law.

“I always knew that If I stood my ground for New Yorkers that I would be a target – and a target I became. If I am charged, I am innocent and I will fight this with every ounce of my strength and spirit,” Adams said, responding to the news on Wednesday night.

The mayor is expected to have several days to turn himself in, according to sources familiar with the case. He’s not expected to appear in court Thursday: Prosecutors previously informed his attorneys that if charged, he would be summoned to surrender at a future date, multiple sources told CNN.

Wow, 10,000 human trafficked a month is an impressive number. We all know that a lot of sanctuary cities are complaining and need more of my tax dollars to handle the human trafficking crisis in their cities.

Well...we start with being skeptical of our own if there are criminal charges against them. Then if they are convicted, we often do turn on our own.

Holding people to account for illegal action as dictated by courts is something all Americans should consider to be a good thing.

We have a billion dollar deficit plus another sum. I saw a piece the other day with two seniors who go to the monthly finance meetings at city hall and they explained how they're lying to the public and trying to silence protesters. The media is there and a different group is steered towards them each month to give the idea all is well. Sometimes they don't allow feedback at the meeting or cancel it abruptly.

They believe the city wants to wear down the residents so they'll move. Affordable housing projects are being announced but that wasn't a priority in the past. Their suspicions may sound odd but a local journalist is covering the issue in his area and has similar sentiments.

More importantly, both reside in neighborhoods on the lake or a few blocks away with excellent public transportation. The seniors are roughly 25 minutes from downtown and the area is popular with commuters. They're ideal if proximity and affordability are desired.

NYC has a lake? Several, including the Central Park Lake, but which lake is "the" lake? Iirc, the city has lakes (ponds) in neighborhoods rather than neighborhoods on lakes, much the same as it has counties in the city rather than cities in the county.

The police department is also currently undergoing a scandal-purge cycle - used to happen on a 20 year cycle.
