  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Who will be buying these symbols of Mr Trump's commitment to the issues that affect the daily lives of the average American?

Mr Trump silenced critics by retorting “This beautiful, limited-edition coin commemorates our movement, our fight for freedom, prosperity, and putting America first, we always put America first.”

I don't know why people complain about political memorabilia.

So someone some where thinks the latest hat or T-shirt design is cool; or the newest coin.

It's just fun stuff for people who are into it.

I have some cute cups and T-shirts from these last 8 years myself. There's nothing wrong with it.

So it makes people some bucks? That's called freedom.

When is Kamala coming out with her commemorative coin? Is there jealousy over a poor showing in the marketing department on her side of the aisle?

Truman: "Maureen Dowd correctly notes that as a former president, Harry S. Truman stated that he would never involve himself in “any transaction, however respectable, that would commercialize on the prestige and dignity of the office of the presidency.” Opinion | Truman’s Finances (Published 2013)

I didn't bother with the late 50s and 60s and most VP's but I will say Harry Truman was an exception. After a stint as an artillery as an officer and later a Colonel, his clothing store went bankrupt, but then he eventually got elected as a county exec., then House, the VP and Presidency and then somewhat broke after leaving office. Truman paid for his own cook at the White House. There was not a paid personal staff of dozens, nor were there dozens for the first lady. He left his wife around 750k though from a modest book deal (around 700k) and his pension.

Carter - from 4.6 million peanut farm loans to millions from saudi? Carter’s Arab financiers

Bush family. Steel with sales to rockefeller and Prescott selling to Germany pre-WWII How The Bush Family Really Got So Rich - Grunge

Clintons - making tens of thousands in hog futures but never trading them again? wonder why? Books and speaking engagements. Now worth around 240 million? List of presidents of the United States by net worth - Wikipedia

Gore - hundreds of millions for serving on Apple's board. Now has a 19 billion dollar investment firm. https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/beh...-firm-and-how-he-made-millions-in-apple-stock

GHW Bush - Was he selling Harken oil before the bad news and getting a sweetheart deal in part ownership of the TX Rangers? Bush, Harken, and the public's right to know

Obama - 1.3 million before President to 70 million now. How Barack and Michelle Obama make and spend their fortune

Trump - The most entrepreneurial President for sure. DJT stock will be worth something if he sells it or the company can actually make a profit. so the coin? Just another trinket, but at least trump is transparent. Net worth? Listed at 3.7 billion from Forbes.

Biden - the underachiever or underground money? Forbes lists wealth at just 10 million What Is Joe Biden's Net Worth?

Harris - 6 million so far. What We Know About Kamala Harris' Net Worth
Walz - 1 million
Vance - 10 million What Is J.D. Vance's Net Worth?

Is the coin made from any sort of metal that has value? If so, then it's not much more of a rip-off than this stuff. What's the point, exactly?

So just so we all have the rules clear...

$100 silver coin: "Haha that's stupid!, what a shameless cash grab, I can't believe people would be so stupid"

$96 Aprons, $32 white T-shirts, $40 baseball caps, and $22 coffee cups: "Yeah, that's dumb at all, because it's Proudly Union Printed"

(which, I'm honestly not sure if that's the endorsement the unions would want... "we can't crank out a plain white Hanes t-shirt with basic print on it for less than $32" may start to give some people ideas about why we're getting killed by foreign markets in the manufacturing sector)

To me the worth of a product is in the eyes of the buyer. Willing buyer willing seller as long as the terms of sales are understood.

For me a commemorative coin is not worth the asking price. Neither are over priced aprons and coffee mugs. However people have the prerogative to purchase anything they fancy. For there to be news spotlighting the absurdity of one and willfully ignore the equally cost prohibitive items of the other side serves nothing more than a soft partisan hit piece.

For merchandise to be price above regular version of the items is nothing new. You're paying for the branding and it's a literal tax on the thing you love.

The difference of course is that the Trump coin is not official campaign merchandise and the profits go to Trump, not his campaign.

I don't understand anyone buying political merchandise.

They're all at least millionaires people.
I agree.

I see it as a waste of money.
