  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Politics is important, but politics is not the Gospel

Politics is very important. Politics played a role in the abolition of slavery and segregation and in the overturning of Roev. Wade. Conversely, it was because of a political vote that Hitler came into power, resulting in the deaths of multiplied tens of millions of lives.

So, politics can be very important.
Politics affects the economy, which in turn affects everyday life.

Politics affects national security, which can be a matter of life and death.

Politics affects which judges are appointed to our courts, which in turn can determine what laws are passed for a nation.

Politics can affect our most fundamental freedoms and rights. Few things are more important than that.

I love Dr. Brown. Really, I do. I think he is a good man, a righteous man, a man whose desire is to do the will of God.

If anyone is interested, you can get on Dr. Brown's email list so you do not miss articles like this that he writes on his website.

Far too often, Christians allow politicians and political matters divide us. However, there is no doubt that the Lord would rather have the majority of our focus as Believers and Followers of Christ be upon reaching the unsaved and discipling them and each other.

Politics is not the gospel but if your politics is not informed by the Gospel and is purely secular, you demonstrate how much you don't value the Gospel.
Yes. People turn politics into the priority. Their faith falls behind. It turns into the opposite of what you stated above.

Some Christians choose not to vote because neither candidate follow the principles of the Lord ... so they don't vote.

I disagree with this view as we are not voting for a god .... we are voting for who we believe will best lead our nation ... and yeah they all have faults of some kind.

All US citizens should vote ... it is important
