  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have a question.

I have not pieced this together exactly, but as far as I can tell, when Judas betrayed Christ, it was the start of the feast of unleavened bread.

First, is this correct?

And secondly, what is the significance of Judas betraying Jesus at this time?

Thanks for any answer.

I've hesitated to answer here because the topic is highly and often hotly debated, and most probably would disagree with my view anyway. Howbeit, the only way I have found to reconcile the Synoptic Gospels with the Gospel of John, according to everything written in the scripture on this subject matter, is to move the crucifixion down the feast, to the end of the feast. There are a number of passages from which this can be gleaned but the topic runs the whole gamut including even calendar studies.

Thank you SO MUCH for your reply. I had no idea this was such a hotly debated topic. I apologize. I did not mean to step in poo.

Nah, it's all good, and I didn't mean it to come across that way. In fact I was waiting for the sparks to fly and for some reason it didn't happen, (lol). Nothing wrong with what you asked!
