  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Song of Solomon 2:

7 I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, by the gazelles or the does of the field, that you not stir up or awaken love until it pleases.
This theme is repeated 2 more times:

Song of Solomon 3:

5 O daughters of Jerusalem, I adjure you by the gazelles and does of the field: Do not arouse or awaken love until the time is right.
Song of Solomon 8:

4 I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, that you not stir up or awaken love until it pleases.
Let love take its natural course. Wait for it. Don't force it prematurely. Let it rest until the time is right.

Agreed. More than that, seems to me, is addictive behavior. Interestingly the old KJV and I don't know how many other versions, present it as something along the lines of, "do you awaken my love", and to be honest, I don't know which is more accurate. But it seems to me to make more sense that it would refer to arousing desire before it would naturally arouse itself.

King James Bible:
I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes, and by the hinds of the field, that ye stir not up, nor awake my love, till he please.

New King James Version:
I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, By the gazelles or by the does of the field, Do not stir up nor awaken love Until it pleases.
