  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Judge Merchan delays Trump's sentencing to Nov. 26.

NEW YORK, Sept 6 (Reuters) - A New York judge on Friday delayed former U.S. President Donald Trump's sentencing in his hush money criminal case until after the Nov. 5 election, writing that he wants to avoid the unwarranted perception of a political motive.

No big surprise in my opinion.
An unexpected birthday gift, especially if he loses the election.

That doesn’t seem like the actions of someone dead set, paid off and politically motivated against the defendant. That sounds perfectly reasonable and accommodating.
It seems like Merchan is having second thoughts and doesn't want to deal with it any longer.

well because they be more likely to not jail him and give him fines or such when he could be the president, if he loses, thats no longe an issue.
The majority of legal experts have said jail time is unlikely.

Didn't he mount the first one by just making a comment?
You missed the three-month long campaign of not conceding the results of the 2020 Presidential Election, including the “will be wild” tweet?

Please refrain from asking loaded questions, thanks.

It's a straight forward question. How is a Nov 26th sentencing, three weeks after the election, going to keep Trump from mounting a second attempt?

Please refrain from answering questions with a question.

Feigning ignorance about a significant 12 weeks in recent American history was a particularly subtle way to argue, Trump said many things over many days on days even after he was told by staff and his family, AND that he knew and conceded that to them, (that he knew he lost).

Boiling it down to one single statement cheapens history.

I've never heard of the “will be wild” tweet until you mentioned it. The lion's share of accusing Trump of mounting a coupe has been based on what he said shortly before the Jan 6th escapade started.

However that's moot to the question I asked, so please stop deflecting.

Trump has had just as much time as before to say/tweet whatever (which I don't keep diligent track of believe it or not). And then there's the three weeks after the election he'll have to say, tweet, organize whatever.

So once again, how is a Nov 26 sentencing going to keep him from "mounting a second attempt"?
