The LORD said to Moses in Ex 20:
Centuries later (New Living Translation) 2 Chronicles 4:
More centuries later, Ezekiel described in 43:
I think so. The important point was that the priest's nakedness would not be exposed on the altar.
While the Israelites wandered in the wilderness, the altar wasn't high.24 An altar of earth you shall make for me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen. In every place where I cause my name to be remembered I will come to you and bless you. … 26 And you shall not go up by steps to my altar, that your nakedness be not exposed on it.
Centuries later (New Living Translation) 2 Chronicles 4:
The altar in Solomon's temple was high above ground. There was a ramp or steps leading up to it.1 Solomon also made a bronze altar 30 feet long, 30 feet wide, and 15 feet high.
More centuries later, Ezekiel described in 43:
Was the altar allowed to have steps leading up to it?17 The upper ledge also is square, fourteen cubits long and fourteen cubits wide. All around the altar is a gutter of one cubit with a rim of half a cubit. The steps of the altar face east.”
I think so. The important point was that the priest's nakedness would not be exposed on the altar.
