  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are all angels capable of sinning?

I think so.

2 Peter 2:

4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment.
Jude 1:

6 angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling.
All humans are capable of sinning and do sin. However, if we repent and believe in Jesus, we are saved. God did not appoint a sinless angel to die for and save the sinful angels.

After an angel has rebelled and sinned, he cannot repent and be saved. Jesus did not die for them.

Angels like Michael and Gabriel have never sinned and will never sin, even though they are capable of it.

After the general resurrection, humans and angels will be judged on the last day. No humans or angels will sin in the new heavens and earth.

Further perspective sinning, not sinning, not thought of in the flesh, not recognised through true?

Angels that did not fall, may not fall - cannot sin, possibly.
Weak (humanly speaking) analogy: Balaam, though he wanted or was tempted strongly, could not speak a word as if to curse Israel - he spoke God's Given Word as God Gave. Why was Balaam allowed to reveal how to bring about a curse on Israel? Don't know.

Men who are born again cannot sin. (already today on earth, not just in the new heaven(s) and new earth). Why is this not realized more, by more, ? Maybe because mankind is so severely and utterly consumed by sin, even (worse) the religious proud powerful (in a way) ones. If they admitted the born again cannot sin, they'd be admitting they themselves have not been born again, as is very often seen today (not the admitting, but the lives revealing). Thus also why healing is so rarely seen. Too much unbelief, same as when Jesus was unable to do many miracles among the unbelieving.

One of three situations exist:

Angels have sufficient choice (not the same thing as "free will") to choose to obey God or not. In that case, it would likely apply to all angels at any time. That would mean Michael could have chosen along with Lucifer to depart from God, and theoretically could choose to depart from God at any time now or future.

There was a specific window of pre-history in which angels had a choice, after which God "locked" their choices and they can today only follow the path they've chosen.

Angels never had a choice and each angel has always followed the path pre-determined by God, whether created to be a vessel of honor or created to be a vessel of dishonor.

Nah, I don't really think that was the case, that's just a theoretical possibility someone might mention.

But I do think that angels and humans are very different orders of beings, not just in power but also in the interest of God, and that the freedom to act that has been given to humans might never have been given to angels, so that the third proposition--that angels and demons are operating precisely as God created them to operate--is possible.

Also just speculation, especially since the fallen angels described in the Book of Enoch committed a severe offense against God. Also out of their own volition. Their rebellion constituted blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, an unforgivable sin, (as was said to the Pharisees). Considering that they had been enlightened and tasted the heavenly gift, they knew Gods nature and character but chose to act contrary to it.
In addition, they taught humanity incorrect ways, leading people astray and promoting sin. Emphasizing the gravity of their rebellion and the consequences that followed. The scriptural warning that teachers will be judged more severely (James 3:1) takes on added significance in this context, as the fallen angels role as false teachers exacerbated their culpability.

Jesus told us that the devil was a liar, and a murderer from the beginning, John 8:44

There does not exist a single scripture that says Satan, the devil, was ever "HOLY." In other words, there was never a Holy Satan to start with. You'll find zero evidence of Holy Satan in the scriptures

The closest we can get is that Satan was perfect, with the huge caveat of "in thy ways"

Short version: A perfect devil is a devil nevertheless

The opening post is correct in this regard: Devils will not and can not be saved

What it doesn't mean though is that any of Satan and his own were ever holy. They are simply nasty characters. Elemental spirits, made by God to be used and discarded at the end of their uses. Like the silk of our present cocoon.
A covering upon us all. Isaiah 25:7, Ezekiel 28:16

We do not even know what that means to us, because we are all in cloudy time, and can not see straight

So, there are holy angels i.e. holy messengers

and

there are wicked angels or wicked messengers

These were never the same spirits. The later are antiChrist spirits

I alluded to that in my post #5.
