  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Just a few words from a priest that helped me, to consider and discern if they will help you as well: :preach:

"To hate oneself is a sin against charity since we must love what God loves"

"Don't follow your feelings, follow sound principals if you want to be free"

"Learn to distrust your emotions, and most certainly, don't follow them"

"We don't control much of what happens to us-Only our virtuous reactions"

"With this in mind, it doesn't matter if its demonic or not, as long as you know how to offer it up"

"Count on my prayers"

"This will pass with prayers and time"

"Your life is in the Lords hands"

"No need to be rattled"

"Focus on your adoration of the blessed sacrament, rosary, mental prayer and living with the awareness that you are always in His loving presence"

"Don't worry about the problem, it's not yours. It belongs to the enemy, he feels it much worse."

"When fasting, you are denying the flesh and weakening it; flesh gets weaker and weaker"

" Fasting is like praying all day"

"The key to the spiritual life is perseverance"

"Follow Gods Word not your own voice"

"Read one paragraph of the New Testament daily"

"Daily prayers bring graces"

"Observe an image of The Sacred Heart for Three Minutes a day"

"Magnify the Lord"

"The virtue of something is its strength. Virtues are habits we develop"

"Virtuous responses will give you life"

"He loves you"

"God is good"

My response today in particular, is that if the enemy feels it much worse, then I am so thankful to God for the insane amount of medication that it takes to rescue my poor body and mind from all of this spiritual warfare.

Thanks be to God for medical science!

And, Great, rock solid Priests!

I needed to hear this, cos I struggle with my own sins as well. Your priest gave you good feedback brother/sister in Christ. I offer up my sins to God every night in prayer, and will have to go to confession again as well, as the last time I went was July.

This reminds me of Sirach, so thanks be to God for medical science, as meds help me as well, cos of my ADHD disorder.

*Also, even as your response was a joke, one should never express sympathy for the devil. We can only express sympathy for our fellow humans, but never to demonic entities.

Sirach 38:1-15 (NRSV-CE): "Honor physicians for their services, for the Lord created them; for their gift of healing comes from the Most High, and they are rewarded by the king. The skill of physicians makes them distinguished, and in the presence of the great they are admired. The Lord created medicines out of the earth, and the sensible will not despise them. Was not water made sweet with a tree in order that its power might be known. And he gave skill to human beings that he might be glorified in his marvelous works. By them the physician heals and takes away pain; the pharmacist makes a mixture from them. God's works will never be finished; and from him health spreads over all the earth. My child, when you are ill, do not delay, but pray to the Lord, and he will heal you. Give up your faults and direct your hands rightly, and cleanse your heart from all sin. Offer a sweet-smelling sacrifice, and a memorial portion of choice flour, and pour oil on your offering, as much as you can afford. Then give the physician his place, for the Lord created him; do not let him leave you, for you need him. There may come a time when recovery lies in the hands of physicians, for they too pray to the Lord that he grant them success in diagnosis and in healing, for the sake of preserving life. He who sins against his Maker, will be defiant toward the physician."

What great advice!

Thanks for sharing :)
I invite people to discuss topics mentioned in his responses, and btw, these are only a few of them. LOL, I could actually edit to add more!

But please feel free to respond or discuss to his messages too-with love of course.

"Deliverance is a process, and usually is a question of many steps"

"Don't forget that attacks mean the enemy is nervous"

"Evil has no power, unless, we sin."

"Sin is the only thing that gives the enemy authority over us"

"Get in a State of Grace, and stay there"

"Chose to Love, to forgive, to be merciful, versus to hold onto resentments"

"YOU have to be the one to seek God and to WORK at it"

"The moment we are aware of ANY thought, impulse, arousal or anything we see that offends purity, we have to reject it immediately or we've sinned gravely. This is where full knowledge comes in, so confess it."

"Don't worry about what the priest thinks. Be more concerned with being forgiven"

"May Mary wrap you in her veil"

Sounds like a wonderful priest!

I often pray, Holy Mary please wrap XYZ in your mantle. Amen.
That is beautiful @RileyG . Do you see her wrapping you when you pray this? do you get an internal image of her maternal love for you?

"Remove all things from your home that were a part of your past life when you were greatly sinning, and that have temptation attached to it-CD's, albums, pictures, posters, jewelry, immodest clothing-anything impure and of the evil one-throw it out!"
