  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How do Christians in the Holy Land understand the Israeli occupation of Palestine?

‘The Israeli occupation of Palestinian land is a sin against God and humanity because it deprives the Palestinians of their basic human rights,’ wrote the Middle Eastern Christian prelates. ‘Resistance is a right and a duty for the Christian.'

On October 7, Hamas militants broke out of the Gaza Strip launching an unprecedented attack upon military and civilian targets in Southern Israel. Videos reveal cold, deliberate murders (war crimes) against civilians, which in the end left approximately 1,200 Israelis dead eliciting an uproar of universal condemnation against this terrorist atrocity.

One such voice was Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, who stated in an October 24 appeal for prayer to end the violence that such an attack was “in no way permissible and we cannot but condemn it.” He likewise enunciated an equal condemnation for the Israeli response, including its ongoing “heavy bombardment” of Gaza.

Turning his mind toward the establishment of a peaceful and stable solution, the Franciscan Cardinal reiterated what the unanimous and constant voice of the Church in the region, along with the international community, judges to be the “root” evil of the conflict: the Israeli military occupation of internationally recognized Palestinian territory.

OK I might be way off-base bear with me, but I might have read somewhere that if Muslims conquer a land, but even if no one is living there, then they view it as their land no matter what. I heard that the land bought for the sake of Israel was legally bought under international law - therefore if it's legally bought, how can the Israelis be illegally occupying anything? I think I'll never understand this. I do think though that even if Israel were not guilty of a single thing, the rest of the Middle East wouldn't want Israel there because the Muslims are still holding a grudge over Jews rejecting their religion 1,500 years ago.

This is a tragic escalation of affairs. How it came to be is partly due to the hysteria that conflicted after Covid. Given the book of Revelations as well it drives fear the end is near. Though this is not the case.

Unfortunately, similar to the riots here in the UK; people create Christian crosses and make them into shivys. This is not the way of Christ it never was. But people think themselves to be creative and their masculine ego takes hold as the devil whispers thoughts into there mind.

What do I believe...I believe we should support them once things have settled to build a great wall of gaza, with some (not all) of the bricks of Egypt as a message of peace. A wall not to keep immigration from moving, but a message of peace, love, and not war!

Wow! You're helping me further with my Bible studies, thank you. I know it was Phillip that was ushered by an Angel to go to Gaza. I've got an amazing Study Bible, fit with diagrams, art, and photos . It's on Amazon, a bit on the expensive side but so worth it for a newbie!
Much love ✝️

Islam does not sound like a peaceful religion at all. Yikes!

The only way to ever achieve peace is for both sides to make major compromises in their current positions. Sadly, neither side seems ready and willing to make said compromises at this time.
True.
