It looks like she's been hired to be part of the campaign, not the government. She's been "hired to lead faith outreach for the Harris-Walz campaign" and to be "a liaison between the campaign and faith groups", according to the Sojourners article.

As was already stated, this is a campaign position, not a government one. The White House does have a position and office that handles engagement with faith communities, but that's not a new thing. Every President since George W. Bush has had some version of this same office, including President Trump.

She's PC USA which is the liberal version of Presbyterian (PCA is conservative).

The OP article does have her quoted as saying some fairly alarmist things, and it's quite possible she is saying them in relation to conservative Christianity, which can be found in nearly any denomination now as liberals reject traditional Christianity (Presbyterians split, Methodists split, the Baptists would if they weren't already for the most part, Catholics are divided between conservatives and the rising tide of liberalism themselves as well).

I think the concern with anyone is why would a candidate for political office seek an anti conservative, liberal extremist/alarmist instead of a more moderate bridge..

I'm not familiar with Rev. Butler, beyond what I googled after reading the OP, so I can't comment on her in detail. In general, though, I think the Social Gospel strand of the mainline churches is a pretty good fit for the values of the Harris/Walz campaign, so it makes sense to me that they would seek out a PCUSA pastor who is also an activist.

I'll agree with this point about moderation: If the campaign seeks to persuade people to work for social justice, they might have to choose language that actually does persuade, instead of driving people away. If they haven't already done so, Harris and Walz might do well to include some theologically conservative Christians in their advisory committee. Sojourners, for example, is an organization that is theologically Evangelical but works for social justice; perhaps they could provide an advisor.

If you only need one piece of evidence the current administration is heavily wasting tax payer money and hemorrhaging money for absolutely useless and worthless government spending look no further than the fact they have an actual government position called "national faith engagement director".

This person is undoubtedly being paid well to do what exactly? Why does the government need to worry about who is a Christian and who isn't? What possible purpose could that serve our nation?

This is just yet another total waste of money and an grossly over extension of government into business that is none of theirs.

Like Harris, Waltz, AOC, Sanders, Newsom, Lightfoot and others on the Left you only have to do a bit of digging to see what they stand for. The type of people they support or endorse and appoint tells us a lot about them. Of course the devastation that comes from these radicals and their ideas such as the cities and States like California and NY is the most obvious evidence.

Basically there is a common theme from these radical progressives which is the ideology of DEI, CRT, PC, Identity Politics, Woke or whatever you want to call it. An ideology that seperates people into identity groups based on oppressor and victim narratives along sex, race, gender and a bunch of other identities newly created and sanctioned by laws, policies and the pushing of enforced norms on society.

Once you understand this, that its not about equality, inclusion, and diversity but a particular brand that sneaks in an ideological agenda within the Trojan Horse of nobel causes and Rights based protections.

The idea of White Supremcy as well as a growing list of language such as Toxic Mascullinity and other redefinitions of language through words and narratives to reconstruct society in their image and order. But not Gods and thats the important destinction. That this ideology is in direct opposition to Gods Truth and order.

Its no different to a new religious and moral order where some identities are wothy and others are not. We have seen the progression of this ideology throughout the years destroying families, parents and children. Now this breakdown is consuming all of society undermining Gods Truth and objective reality I might add.

Its a divisive and destructful ideology that further pits people against each other and will destroy our freedoms and democracy. Don't be fooled. Make no mistake this is a spiritual battle as much as a political one, even moreso.
