  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Have any of you followed the move of RFK-Jr to now support Trump? I was struck with his sober rationality in his discernment process. He knew of course he could not win as a 3rd-party Independent, but he remained deeply committed to his national causes that were getting inadequate national attention. His life-long home-base Democrat party would not even talk with him, and instead they used their anti-Trump “law-fare” tactic to block and sue him (RFK Jr) in the courts. Trump did talk with him, and they found in dialogue that they agreed on several crucial issues, disagreed strongly on a few, but found they could work together to their mutual benefit and the benefit - most importantly - of our country! What a concept! Patriotic compromise!

His reasonings led to this conclusion: (I think I’ve got this right) that his complete withdrawal from the race would possibly allow a Harris/Walz victory; but a strategic suspension and withdrawal only from the “swing states”, with his strong endorsement of Trump to his faithful supporters, could well enable a Trump victory.

This part astounded me: He believed that a Harris/Walz victory would be a national disaster, their “progressivism” leading to a socialist or even pre-communist America, irrevocably, irreversibly. A Trump victory would be a strong victory in many of his national concerns immediately, with open doors (in a continuing Constitutional America) for his other concerns in the future. This, from a life-long Democrat, a Kennedy!

Conclusion: Consider the options, friends! RFK Jr did, as we all should.

I think Dan puts it well ...

What?! I heard that his family is really disappointed in him but not the disowning part.
Maybe not disowned but definitely disappointed.

This must hurt, to be "out-synagogued" by a large part of one's family. Group-think is a frightening, powerful force in human persons: God made us in families, in neighborhoods, in cultures and in nations. And He also made us as persons, with reason and with conscience. The Lord told us of the conflicts to come:
Mt 10:34 "Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.
Mt 10:35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;
Mt 10:36 and a man's foes will be those of his own household.
Mt 10:37 He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me;
Mt 10:38 and he who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
Mt 10:39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for my sake will find it.
It remains to be seen whether and/or how much that passage applies to "Bobby" and the Kennedys; but if he is growing toward greater and greater embrace of Truth, may God be with him!

It remains amazing to me, how persons in the same family can see things so very differently.
One can be very 'red pilled' ... eyes very wide opened to things ... and the other, not.
But this is happening now, in many families.

One of the things that impresses me about RFK Jr. is that he does not hesitate to mention prayer.
He genuinely appears to be a man of prayer.
I've heard him refer to prayer too often, to not believe that he prays.
When people pray, I do think God often does give them greater understanding into things.
