  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Harris campaign now says VP ‘does not support’ electric vehicle mandate in latest flip-flop

Harris, who replaced President Biden atop the 2024 Democratic presidential ticket last month, has been accused of flip-flopping on a number of issues since jumping into the race against Trump, including support for Medicare for All, banning fracking and legalizing illegal immigration, in an attempt to appeal to a larger set of voters.
In each case, Harris’ revised position has been announced by her campaign rather than confirmed by the vice president herself.

She needs to be called out on what she has said in the past. She is far to the left and her policies will crush America.

I wonder how many more times she will flip flop on policy issues?
At least one whopping big one the day after the election if she wins.

When did the Biden administration have an electric vehicle mandate?
When was it her specific policy regarding electric vehicles rather than Biden's?

This is not a presidential campaign. It's an ad campaign. The product is an imaginary future that's better than today because you get to fill in the blanks.

This isn't a real candidate....or a real campaign. It's a test on voter stupidity. Are you willing to buy a product that tells you what it actually does? Or would you prefer the mystery box? That mystery box is exciting....it could be anything you imagine!

Seriously?

This was a huge issue for several years.

There were all sorts of political hearings on it, they tried to get people hyped about EVs, they invited industry leaders (except Musk) and sort of learned from experts that they are extremely dumb and it's virtually impossible.

Essentially, forced carbon emissions rules will drive a lower and lower amount of gas vehicles to be sold. The end goal being all EV in some point in the 30s.

The main problems they ran into, almost immediately...

1. EVs generally stink as vehicles. They have shorter range, lots of failures, battery charging issues, high replacement costs, etc. Gas vehicles are simply still a far better product for the vast majority.

2. We don't have the power. That's the long and short of it. We don't have enough electricity. I watched one expert testify about how it is literally impossible to do. He was asked questions about trucks....how difficult it would be to make them EV and he basically said that they would weigh 3 times more due to batteries and not be able to carry the same amount of goods/products. Nonetheless, he was aware of someone trying to build a charging station for EV trucks outside some major city, which requires approval from the city. When the city asked what the draw was (the draw on electricity) he gave a response that caused laughter. They thought he was joking. It was higher than the entire city. Approval denied.

So pie in the sky dreams of EVs simply aren't happening. They aren't going to happen. Not in the next 20 years at least.

There is no EV mandate.

Yeah sure...

No EV mandate.
Harris wasn't the border czar.
The border crisis is Trump's fault.
The economy is going great despite high prices, low wages.
Crime is actually down, ignore the mass looting and store closings.
Men can be women and who knows what that even means.
You can fight racism with racism.

As long as you stay fully detached from reality and pretend along with the party lies....who cares what is happening or happened?

There is no EV mandate.
Yep, you are correct. There is a rule that only applies to government-owned (federal) vehicles, and not vehicles of every day citizens. For a time, I thought there was an EV mandate for the whole country as well, but there is not.

If CERN would quit dragging their feet (waiting on some modicum of global political stability!?), and just figure out gravity, yeah, that’d be swell.

Haha, maybe have antigrav cars in the future, but antigrav cars would be conCERNing (pun intended), if gravity cars collided, cos some people in Wisconsin barely know how to drive in a straight line.

That’s why the big push for autonomous automobiles to guide people into handing their transportation needs to machines that simply do the work without humans having to be bothered about what route to take, or traffic patterns, of their towns at specific times of the day.

Musk will provide the “network” that’ll be needed to keep every flying-car in touch with every other flying-car and avoid dangerous situations.
(also) on the plus side, the “shortage-economy” we’ve been locked into since the Industrial Revolution, would vanish.
Think about how “far we’ve come” technologically by harnessing (while still not completely understanding) electricity.
Beginning to comprehend another one of the four fundamental “forces” could be useful to us is, where they’re at, like Volta and the frogs-legs…it’s early on but totally worth the effort.

There is no EV mandate.
Yeah. It is a Republican claim. There was a push to have electric vehicles and some states voted to phase out gas powered vehicles by 2038 but no mandate to make all vehicles electric nationwide.

If you want to get technical sure...there was no mandate, just increasing EPA standards that would phase out gas cars over the years. This was dropped when they finally realized it wasn't working....the technology simply is not there.

Btw....there's also no "book banning" the republicans were engaged in nor any "don't say gay" bill either....so calling this a mandate certainly isn't a stretch.

You're complaining that she's becoming a little less liberal?

No we are saying she is hiding it...changing what she has supported and said in the past to appear more moderate. A ruse. Lies to help her get elected.

When did the Biden administration have an electric vehicle mandate?

Here are Kamala's own words:

"Sales are up, driven by consumer demand. The auto industry is clearly moving toward electric.
We need to make the shift faster and make sure it is driven by the United States.
That means manufacturing millions of electric cars, trucks, and buses right here in our country. That means outfitting thousands of EV — elective vehicle — repair garages, just like this one. And it means installing a national network of EV chargers.
When we ask people what is the biggest barrier for them to buy an electric car, the answer is almost always: figuring out where and how to charge it.
People who live in apartments, for example, might not have a private driveway where they can install a plug. You heard the Secretary talk about that.
Well, when we install public chargers, in rural, urban, and suburban neighborhoods, we make it easier for people to go electric.
It’s that simple. It’s about being clear about what we need to get done and then to do it."

If you review the following articles I think you will find she has been part of the effort:

The following article was is from May of this year:

It's disturbing when politicians change their perceived positions in order to get elected.

And while we're at it, there never was a Covid vaccination mandate either.
