  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Jesus: The Good Shepherd , Are You His Sheep?

In many verses of the bible, Jesus is portrayed as the Good Shepherd, a tender and loving caretaker who watches over His flock with unwavering devotion. This profound metaphor not only illustrates His deep care and sacrifice but also invites us to reflect on our own place in this divine relationship.

In the biblical context, the sheep represent the believers — those who follow Jesus and seek His guidance. Sheep are known for their dependence on their shepherd, needing constant care, protection, and direction. Similarly, believers are depicted as needing the loving oversight and guidance of Jesus.

Jesus Himself reveals His role as the Good Shepherd in John 10:11 (NKJV), saying, "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep." This declaration underscores the extent of His commitment to His followers, showing His readiness to sacrifice everything for their well-being. He continues in John 10:14 (NKJV), "I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own," illustrating the personal and intimate relationship He has with each believer.

The Good Shepherd knows His sheep individually. As John 10:27 (NKJV) states, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me." In this verse Jesus not only leads but also listens to and recognizes each one of His followers, guiding them with wisdom and care.

The relationship between Jesus and His followers is one of profound security. John 10:28 (NKJV) assures us, "And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand." This promise of eternal life and unbreakable protection highlights the depth of His care and commitment.

Jesus’ compassion is vividly illustrated in Matthew 9:36 (NKJV) and Mark 6:34 (NKJV), where He sees the multitudes as "sheep having no shepherd" and is moved with compassion. This imagery reflects His concern for those who lack spiritual guidance and His mission to bring them into His fold.

In Luke 15:4-7 (NKJV), Jesus compares Himself to a shepherd who leaves ninety-nine sheep to find one that is lost. The joy of finding the lost sheep represents the immense value He places on each individual. This parable reveals the boundless love and joy that Jesus experiences when even one person turns back to Him.

In a profound moment after His resurrection, Jesus specifically entrusts Peter with the care of His flock. In John 21:15-17 (NKJV), Jesus asks Peter three times, "Do you love Me?" Each time Peter affirms his love, Jesus responds, "Feed My lambs," "Tend My sheep," and "Feed My sheep." This commission highlights the responsibility of shepherding the believers, emphasizing the importance of nurturing and guiding them in their faith.

Finally, Revelation 7:17 (NKJV) envisions a future where "the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters." This verse promises that Jesus, the Lamb of God, will continue to shepherd and care for His people eternally.

Are You His Sheep?

Reflecting on these scriptures, consider your own place in this divine metaphor. Are you listening to the voice of the Good Shepherd? Are you following His guidance and trusting in His care? Embrace the reassurance and security that comes from being one of His sheep, knowing that the Good Shepherd is always watching over you with boundless love and protection.

The Lord Is My Shepherd A psalm from David (PSALM 23)

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Blessings.

Are any believers always and only sheep? Never ever doing a single goat work?

I'd suggest that the truth is far far away from one sided stories that reject full disclosure and honesty

Do people do both good and evil? Do believers have evil thoughts? Do believers sin? Doesn't that indicate that maybe, just maybe, a little goat work is a hard line fact?

Let's be honest about this subject and we might learn some more valuable lessons than just one sided half a loaf statements that denies the obvious other Words Jesus spoke

IF Jesus asked you: Do you always and only do good?

What would your answer be? Would you lie? Would you be a hypocrite?

I'd suggest that NO GOAT can "tell the truth"

Are you just another angry person who follows Paul mostly if not only? Do you despise the words of Jesus? You cannot understand because you follow another and not the son of GOD. This post has a purpose to wake people up to the truth;

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)

I can certainly appreciate a good strawman but the observations were scripturally secure

I will admit to promoting honesty amongst believers, difficult as it can be at times to get some believers to admit they are sinners

The OP should not be faulted for posting words of encouragement for those who seek a deeper faith. It shows compassion and kindness. Not every post needs to have every aspect of the Christian life included.

The illustration of sheep is often used for the nation of Israel as it is a picture of God's love for his chosen people. A focus on God's love for his people can be a picture that provides us comfort and assurance.

While we can draw comfort and assurance from God's love for Israel, we may wish to also consider that the illustration of sheep and shepherd may not be the best example for how Christians today should live today. There is an intrinsic dormancy in sheep that rely on group direction from the shepherd. Israel was supposed to have this relationship with her Messiah. We are more directed towards individual action. Christians today are placed into the "body of Christ". If not quenched, the Holy Spirit in us can transform us to be better people and grow in love (the selflessness of 1Cor 13:4-7).

Paul should not be so quickly dismissed as his exhortations to us to be more active in our faith are key to the deeper Christian faith. It is not a choice between Jesus or Paul, but an understanding that there is a difference between what was intended for Israel and what Christians today have available. To try to make everything in the bible to apply to all people of all time can introduce confusion and frustration (for example today we do not move mountains).

Many forget the preeminence of Christ, meaning He has the highest and full authority on everything! we can fully depend on every word spoken by Christ and do as he asks. Many forgot also that Christ came to preach the Kingdom of Heaven and repentance from sin. Many forget that Christ sent the 11 disciples to all corners of the world to everyone not just to Israel to preach this message and to teach then all that Christ said;

Mat 28:18
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, evenun to the end of the world. Amen.

You are gonna find that many desire what paul would have called another jesus .
And beleive you me there is HUGE reason i did not captilize that one .
For it is the jesus that serveth and pleases man .
I seen what he said . always making an excuse for why they do as they do and do all to make the one who brings truth
look like an accuser .
But lets see who accuses who and MORE IMPORTANTLY who accuses ................WHO .
You might be asking yourself why that latter who was CAPTLIZED .
I SAY to everone . LETS SEE WHO IS ACCUSING CHRIST , WHO IS ACCUSING GOD .
WHO is judging GOD , HIS TRUTH , HIS CHRIST , HIS WORD .
Many often accuse me of being the acccuser of the brethren .
YET THEY ACCUSE the words i bring .
They bring the words of men and feelings . emotions and whatever seemeth right to a man.
BUT i got an idea . LETS BRING THE WORDS OF GOD , OF CHRIST , OF the apostels .
Lets see who accuses and WHO THEY ACCUSE .
Some folks have zero love for or desire for the TRUTH . the last time i checked CHARITY rejoices IN TRUTH
not what seems right to man , BUT TRUTH . and the last time i checked EVERY WORD OF GOD IS TRUTH .
so why do so many seem to want to omit parts of What is written .
WELL the answer to that question is , because parts of what is written GOES AGAINST THE SIN THEY LOVE .

By grace can i say and can i say by grace that Every word inspired of GOD
of the prophets by GOD , and lastly OF THE SON and later by the apostels left to us in said bible .
IS GOOD FOR THE SOUL OF MAN .
from every dire dire warning to every promise , EVERY SINGEL WORD is GOOD FOR OUR SOUL .
GOOD to the hearer and doer of said word . AS GOD NEVER DESIRED the death of any
and thus HE WARNED . HE did so through men too .
ONLY most sure dont seem to like the parts that warn against the sin they so love .
many had rather hear a god and a jesus , yeah it wont be captilized on my watch , that seemth
to offer up salvation and sin . Another image of god and of christ has big time been invented within a whole mess of christendom .
The leaders preach smooth things
the wicked repents not of his evil for their version of love promises them life as is .
and worse a whole ton of folks sure seems to love to have it so .

Jesus: The Good Shepherd , Are You His Sheep?

In many verses of the bible, Jesus is portrayed as the Good Shepherd, a tender and loving caretaker who watches over His flock with unwavering devotion. And HOW does one truly know they do heed the voice of the shepard of the sheep who does lead and guide his sheep .
For many heed the voice of other shepards who speak contrary to the GREAT SHEPARD of the SHEEP .
SO how does one know if its the GREAT SHEPARD or the hirelingthey do heed .
OH its real easy friend .
WHOSE WORDS DO WE TRUST , HEED , LOVE and OBEY . its it men who twist HIS WORDS we do heed
OR IS IT HIS WORDS WE DO HEED in said bible . BINGO . many do NOT follow JESUS THE CHRIST
at most they follow another version of SAID JESUS , which means they follow not THE VOICE OF THE GREAT SHEPARD OF THE SHEEP .
WHO EVEN TOLD HIS OWN HE WOULD SEND THEM THE COMFORTER
who would REMIND THEM OF ALL , OF ALL , things HE DID SAY . THE COMFORTER DONT CONTRADICT some of JESUS WORDS .
WHO IS THE COMFORTER one might ask .
I WILL NOT LEAVE YOU COMFORTLESS . I WILL COME UNTO YOU . TOO many be following another spirit
and another so called comforter that sures seems to make them feel comfortable in the things THAT CONTRADICT TRUTH
.
OH boy its not looking too good at all in these last hours my friend . I say BIBLE TIME .
But what do i know , i am but a wee flea , whom GOD had mercy upon , who changed the worst of the worst
and put that man INTO THE BIBLE for hours daily , every day for now over eighteen years .
MY PEOPLE perish FROM LACK OF KNOWLEDGE . THE BIBLE SURE IS FULL OF KNOWLEDGE now aint IT . only MOST COULD give
a rip less what IT says and would rather heed men who tickle ears and preach men pleasing , flesh pleasing sermons
about a JESUS they KNOW NOTHING about .

yes and also they choose the wide path, that leads to perdition, much easier to just believe and do nothing about it, Jesus mentioned in many parables how it is important to produce good fruits, many have also forgotten this and reject the truth of what Jesus was teaching.
