  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Gospel highlights several instances where Jesus formed meaningful connections through dialogue and mutual trust. For example, the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) portrays the Samaritan’s collaboration with an innkeeper to care for a wounded traveler—an act rooted in trust and compassion.
Similarly, Jonan’s outreach to Mr. Tahir mirrors this spirit of collaboration, demonstrating that true partnership transcends religious and cultural differences.

Dialogue is so important so that we can find common ground.

Hopefully, this common ground is found between Catholicism and Indonesia, and that Indonesia understands that Jesus is the only way to salvation (John 14:6), as long as we do not force Christianity onto others, but both demonstrate and tell them the Good News. :)

Hopefully they will see the holiness of the Catholic faith. They have to first learn about Jesus before they can come to know Him.

I do hope so. Isn't Indonesia highly Muslim? Hopefully, we can convert them to Christianity or more specifically, Catholicism. :)

According to Pew, Indonesia is 87% Muslim:
