  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Watching a Christian movie before fully reading the Bible

Is this not recommended? I was thinking I will get a good idea when it comes to finishing the entire Bible. I will read scripture as the movie runs.
Which movie is it? Maybe people can help you here, if you give us the title. :)

My opinion is to stick with the scriptures. We really need to understand God’s Truth in the Bible which is Jesus John 14:6 His Word John 17:17 and His commandments Psa 119:151

So many bible movies has errors in their doctrine so its best to understand God’s Word through our own diligent study and prayer before bringing in outside sources. Same with pastors/priest if what is being taught in church doesn’t line up with the scriptures, find yourself a new church. The devil is not just in bars, he is in churches. Pray to God for help in understanding His Word its a promise in scripture. John 14:26. I would look at biblical movies as just pure entertainment.

If you mean "Must I make sure that I have read the whole bible before I watch a Christian film/movie?" my answer would be "Not necessarily," but I feel that you do need a good grasp of basic biblical teachings first, so that you can ascertain whether the movie is trustworthy. As someone else replied, not all "Christian movies" are sound in their doctrine.
