  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Democrats have controlled the White House 12 of the last 16 years, yet everything is still Trump's fault?

Just speaking from my own experience as a Black man, I can assure you that this question has become much more common at the barbershops. Black men are finally realizing the scam that is the Democratic Party. Many of us talk about how Kamala is a chameleon who only plays the Black card when it benefits her. I am not exaggerating when I say that the only people at my barbershop who is voting for Kamala are only voting for her because she is a woman of color and want to "be a part of a historic event." Dispite the fact that they cannot stand her.

Scott Jennings: Democrats Have Controlled The WH For 12 Of The Last 16 Years, Yet Everything Is Still Trump's Fault

To me, that is the glaring hole in this campaign that hasn’t yet been solved at the convention. How do you explain all of the problems that will be solved by the person who is currently in there for the last 3.5 years and who is supposed to be already working on solving it?

I watched very little of the DNC. What sorts of things were they blaming on Donald?

Many of us talk about how Kamala is a chameleon who only plays the Black card when it benefits her.
Well, I guess the Republican Party is doing a good job of appealing to a more diverse audience with its nonsensical propaganda.

I'm with you - I watched very little of the DNC - you will note I was quoting someone - you would have to send hard inquiries to that person.

Do you think it is so nonsensical that Black folk are actually not too stupid to realize that voting Democrat for so many years have given us nothing but the same broken promises? This movement has nothing to do with propaganda and everything to do with the fact that our struggles have never gotten better under Democratic leadership. So please do not insult me and the Black community for having the audacity of walking away from the Democratic plantation and somehow writing it off as we are just some ignorant fools who are easily swayed by "nonsensical propaganda."

So you started a thread about a person's comments without having any idea what he was talking about?

Do you think it is so nonsensical that Black folk are actually not too stupid to realize that voting Democrat for so many years have given us nothing but the same broken promises?

Is that the topic my comment addressed? No, it wasn't.

This movement has nothing to do with propaganda

And yet the big example you pulled out was based on dishonest, factually inaccurate Republican propaganda.

If I'd wanted to address the subject of Democratic patronizing, I would have. But I didn't. What I addressed was the example you used that was based on nonsensical propaganda.

So what you are saying is that it is impossible for black folk to notice when a multi-racial woman changes the volume of her Blackness for self-gain unless it is the product of "nonsensical propaganda." You probably don't go into black barbershops often I assume. Because if you say stuff like that in one of those establishments, you would be run out.

I'm saying that Harris didn't do that in the first place - at least I haven't seen anybody demonstrate as such. All of the supposed examples trotted out by the right around the time of Trump's interview with the black journalists turned out to be ridiculous.

But... on the subject of opportunistically playing the "black card," I am saying now that you are guilty of that in your interactions with me here. Twice now you've accused me of having some skewed perspective of Black folks despite my comments not suggesting anything of the sort.

Additionally, I'd add that if you're so concerned about my impression of black folks and their mental capacities, you would do well to read what I actually say and not read into it a bunch of things that aren't there.

You probably don't go into black barbershops often I assume.

I'm bald and shave my head at home. I don't go into any barbershops.

That is not what you said. When speaking about my personal experience in my barbershop, I said
Many of us talk about how Kamala is a chameleon who only plays the Black card when it benefits her.
Then you responded by implying that the only way any Black man at my barbershop would have such an opinion is because of "nonsensical propaganda." Do you think it so impossible that any Black man could possibly notice how Kamala changes her tone when she is in front of black folk? Is it so impossible for a Black man to know when politicians are trying to patronize them?
Well, I guess the Republican Party is doing a good job of appealing to a more diverse audience with its nonsensical propaganda.
Now are retreating from your original comment by saying, "All I am saying is that I haven't seen Kamala do such a thing." Color me not surprised. Because Black folk can pick out a phony trying to act Black very easily.

My comment about you and your friends swallowing Trump et al's nonsensical propaganda had nothing to do with you being Black. Lots of white people have swallowed that propaganda, too.

I don't think she changes her tone like that in the first place, so I don't think it's possible for anybody to notice such a thing without being fed it from the right-wing propaganda machine.

I'm not retreating from anything. I'm just clarifying things to correct your poor reading comprehension and shut down your attempts at playing the race card (after criticizing Harris for supposedly doing the same thing).

You assumed the only reason a black man could possibly have an opinion on Kamala's fakeness was due to Trump propaganda. The next time you want to make a pop shot to invalidate my comment, you should think wisely before trying to invalidate Black experiences and opinions. Dare I say, "Check your privilege. " Because your micro-agressions implied that Black folk are incapable of having a valid opinion that goes against liberal ideology without brainwashing propaganda coming into play. But I digress because this is off topic.

No, I assumed the only reason anybody would have that opinion was propaganda. In fact, we've already had threads on that subject, where I've criticized a bunch of (what I assume are) white people for believing the same lies.

That's why I made the comment about the Republicans diversifying their audience - they got everybody with this one.

You're the one who interjected race into this accusation, not me.

The next time you want to make a pop shot to invalidate my comment

Remember that scene in Full Metal Jacket where Gunny Hartman expresses his thoughts on racism and racial slurs?

Like Gunny Hartman, I don't see color. I just see people, being gullible.

Again. Your privilege is showing.
The only privilege I'm leaning on is the ability to do a bit of homework to poke through some of Trump's lies.

So's Law -

And here you are in the thread, with even less information than I have - I actually found the OP, read the link, listened to the video.

It there something on topic you would like to discuss, or do you just want to bemoan what you do not like?

Here is the comment - not from some vast right wing conspirator - but from the DNC's very own news base -

To me, that is the glaring hole in this campaign that hasn’t yet been solved at the convention. How do you explain all of the problems that will be solved by the person who is currently in there for the last 3.5 years and who is supposed to be already working on solving it?

I certainly dont blame everything on Trump for a couple reasons:

1. He was the president, not an omnipotent wizard. So I judge by quality of decisions, not outcomes.

2. He was just the president. He wasnt the congress.

That said, I did find many of his decisions to be extremely poor. And his character and behavior is often appalling.

No, it would seem that you and I have the exact same amount of information on this subject, since I also read the link and watched the video.

That's how I know he didn't addressed the subject of my question.

Yes, I'd like to know the answer to my original question:

What sorts of things were they blaming on Donald?

Answered in post #5 - I can't help you don't like the answer -
Saying you don't know doesn't actually answer the question. It says that you don't have the answer.

Perhaps somebody else who watched the convention could answer.
