  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How did a Baptist kid from Gilmore Texas eventually become a Catholic priest? This is a delightful story full of instruction and apologetics.

I love to share conversion stories to affirm our Catholic Faith. Such a story as this rings in our hearts and confirms that we are in the right place. It also gives us knowledge and insight to share the truth with others.

The title of the interview is “Are You Saved?” Coming from Texas, which is known as part of the Baptist Bible Belt, this is a timely and appropriate article.

You can enjoy the who interview and moving story HERE.

I loved that article and Father’s current response to the question “Have you been saved”? BTW he looks like Tom Cruise in that picture.
Fun fact: Tom Cruise was actually raised Catholic, was in minor seminary, got in trouble and was asked not to return.

I wonder what he did to get into trouble? His ex wife Nicole Kidman is Catholic, too.

So is Katie Holmes. Nicole and her husband are practicing, even though she got IVF.

I wonder if these divorced and remarried Catholic celebrities got annulments? I know Katie Holmes isn’t remarried but when she married Cruise, he had been divorced.

I thought Texas was very Catholic, same with Louisiana, Maryland, and Florida?

Thanks for sharing
This wasn’t asked of me but I went to Mass in Florida, near Destin, and there was another parish not far away.

They got married outside the Church so it wasn’t sacramentally valid. Also, Nicole did get an annulment IIRC.

So if a Catholic marries a Scientologist in a Scientology ceremony, then divorce, the person who returns to Catholicism can remarry in the Church?
One of the reasons I ask is there’s a Catholic man in my church who got married to and converted to Lutheranism. Then divorced two years later and returned to my church. Can a person with that history remarry without an annulment?

I don’t think so. I’m not sure.
