  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When we discussed this two years ago most people concluded that an actual invasion was not advisable as it could provoke a nuclear war. Asymmetric tactics however of incursions that blew up ammo dumps and disrupted logistics and indeed made the war real to Russian people have some value.

Ukraine does not have the resources to hold vast swathes of Russian territory but by waging war on Russian soil may hope to divert Russian resources.

It seems to me that Biden's last days will be characterized by a determined effort to undermine Putin's war effort. Putin may think that a Trump victory offers hope to him of peace on Russian terms, so it is likely he will try and wait this out until November. If Harris wins and continues Biden's policy then the proper conclusion should be that Putin cannot win this war and that costs will only continue to escalate.
