  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump tells Christians their 'religion will be in tatters' if Biden wins: 'We answer to God in Heaven'

You have not posted any proves data that Sweden bases their laws on one particular religious belief. It would be edifying for me to read that Sweden's laws are based on religion like Sharia, please share.

Well, we have a democratically elected constitutional republic. Even though the Senate refused to confirm any of President Obama's judicial picks in the last full year of his presidency, Trump's picks were confirmed in the first 90 days of his presidency. That fact does illustrate how certain political groups can hijack the government. If Obama had been allowed to do his job, we would have had more adherants to the constitution in the Supreme Court. Since he wasn't allowed to appoint judges who followed the constitution, Trup was freed to appoint activist judges who put their religion over the letter of the rights laid out in the constitution.

Nothing can be done about that now but we can learn the lesson the Conservatives are more concerned with wielding power than protecting American citizens constitutional rights. The Supreme Court is running wild right now placing religion in front of rights but history will bear that out.
I have yet to see where the supreme court is 'running wild'. There was a decision involving banning birth control, that the court ruled 9-0 against. Trump lost his appeal over the election, but won on immunity. Biden was ruled unconstitutional over student loans but is doing it anyway. Sounds to me like the court is not the problem - it's the ones who won't abide by the rulings.

It means that I would rather a law be passed based on a majority rule than set up the minority to be allowed to change laws based on a minority opinion that the democratic majority opinion. If you still don't understand, that means that the majority rules, not the self-righteous minority. even if we agree on the minority's opinion on abortion or other laws, in fact it is the majority that rules a democracy. Do you disagree with the basic rules of democracy?
Not quite. It’s the majority which chooses the representatives.
So you don't have any evidence that the majority of Swedes wish for Sharia law.
I never said they did. I said Sweden is closer than the USA to Sharia law. You clearly didn’t read what I said.
I’m referring to this part:

“Trump was freed to appoint activist judges who put their religion over the letter of the rights laid out in the constitution.”

To be fair I quoted a wall of text so I understand the confusion.

It’s not just about the woman though, it affects a whole host of people. No one has the right to end the life of another because they are inconvenient or unwanted.
Who else lives with the decision more than the mother? Do you think the government should hold a gun to a woman's head and make her carry to term? I know God will judge us in the end. He may even forgive us.

This thread had a small clean up. It is never okay to refer to group of people with an ugly, nasty name. It reflects badly on the person who uses it.

Keep it civil.
