Chick-fil-A dethroned as America's top fast-food chain after nearly a decade

After nearly a decade, Chick-fil-A is no longer ranked as America's top fast-food restaurant.

USA Today released its 10Best Reader's Choice Awards last week for the category of fast-food restaurant, as voted on by readers. Chick-fil-A, a Christian-owned chain headquarted in Georgia, once landed the No. 1 spot as America's top fast-food chain for nine years in a row. But this year, Del Taco, a California-based chain that serves American-style Mexican cuisine, has earned the title.

"This popular taco stop, which serves all kinds of satisfying Mexican fare including burritos, quesadillas, and nachos, also offers burgers and fries," the list states. "In addition, Del Taco has a dedicated breakfast menu, as well as a vegan and vegetarian menu."

What? Del Taco is terrible! It's apples and oranges, but Chik-FIl-A is better to me.

Yeah, I have never seen a Del Taco anywhere across the different states where I've been, either. But, Chic-Fil-A has the very best fast food chicken sandwiches, EVER.

I used to eat at a nearby Del Taco all the time but fell out of the routine. I liked their fish tacos.

I've only been in a Chick-fil-A drive thru twice. One when I was out of town and the latest because one opened that's sort of close by. I got a classic chicken sandwich. It was okay.

Used to be a Del Taco in Texas. They sold out to Taco Bell. That probably says something...but I don't know what.

They make it in the summer. It's very good.

During the holiday season, I know they had a peppermint milkshake. Also very good.

Makes me want to get some Chick-fil-A today, but I have leftovers

I’ve ever had a Del Taco, I’m not sure if we even have on in my area. Hubby said there is or used to be on in the city. i was wanting Chick Fil A tonight for dinner.

Honestly, it makes sense. I feel like CFA’s quality has dipped in recent years. I’d have hoped they evolved or innovated with places like KFC and Wendy’s squeezing them, but they haven’t. frankly, I think Dave’s Hot Chicken has eclipsed them in terms of consistent quality.

Del Taco, though… Meh.

Sounds good! I need to lose more weight, so I should probably stay away from fast food, but there’s nothing wrong with eating it in moderation.
