CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It was a press conference in the Capitol before the press corps. It would be a breach of journalistic professionalism to applaud. (Not surprising, the clip was super zooomed by a RW "media outlet" to hide the context.)

Did you read what I wrote? It was a press conference with House Minority Leader Jefferies. There is no clapping at pressers. The only audience is reporters.

It's hard to believe because it's not true. House Minority Leader Jefferies was right next to him. And as was pointed out, this was a press conference, not a campaign event. The audience was nothing but journalists who are there to get information, not express approval or disapproval of what is being said.

From your earlier posts and the video, you wouldn't even know Jefferies is there. Shumer had an awkward moment trying start applause at a presser, so what. He's a bit of a dork as a speaker.
