• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A policy book this large provides plenty to split hairs over. As with any dividing moment in politics, Christians have a duty to recall their primary identity within the kingdom of God. The apostle Peter refers to the church as God’s own nation and priesthood (1 Pet. 2:9-12), reminding believers that in this world, we are simply sojourners and exiles in a foreign land (1 Pet. 2:11).

An already-not-yet nature is inherent to the Christian life since we know that we are part of an eternal kingdom, but we reside in a temporary place. Yet, while we are here, we have a responsibility to seek the welfare of our community, just as God commanded the Babylonian exiles in their temporary homes away from Jerusalem (Jer. 29:4-7).

How do we adopt this kingdom-minded approach to our political engagement? We pray for our leaders, our nation, and our individual discernment. We intentionally seek out the truth, research consequential policies, have important conversations, and then vote accordingly. We guard our hearts against the corrupting tendency of political idolatry and the wicked desire to place our faith in ideology. Lastly, we actively work toward Godly solutions in our society rather than hoping for legislation and policymakers to do the work for us.

These principles should characterize every Christian’s approach to the culture, and living them out is an act of obedience to God that goes beyond personal politics. So, regardless of how you plan to vote this fall, commit to a kingdom-minded approach and trust that the Lord is not limited by who runs the government.

For myself, I do not like Project 2025, as it was designed by human hands, and not God or Jesus. Some of the stuff such as banning woke stuff, and banning bad content is a good idea, but giving too much power to one guy is a little off, and disconcerting.

From the BBC:

If we want to stick to God, as centrists and conservatives alike, we must stick to Biblical teachings, and not try to enforce a 900 page document onto people. That is why I stand with old-school conservatives (1970s-2000s) and Peter Sonski (American Solidarity Party, a Christian party). In other words, we have to take it back to 1975 or 1985 in order to fix our country.

I read they want to Medicare and Medicaid. They also want to make Birth control completely illegal. And any that give some one BC will be punished. And so will anyone that takes BC. Also , there is other crazy things in there. I still keep looking at it.

Sadly the right wing news knows this. And they seem to want this. So, they are keeping quiet and claiming bad things will happen, only because of Democrats. So, when project 2025 happens. It won't be talked about. And these things will be happening, because of Democrats.

There's clearly a verb omitted here, but if you are missing "cut funding to" then you'd be correct.

They also want to make Birth control completely illegal. And any that give some one BC will be punished. And so will anyone that takes BC.

As far as I can tell, however, this one is completely made up. It's something people claim, but they either don't actually offer evidence or the stuff they offer doesn't actually support this claim.

The most I've seen people actually offer from Project 2025 is them wanting to reinstate religious exceptions for employers who don't want to cover birth control, as well as them wanting to ban Ulipristal acetate (better known as "Ella") on the grounds they view it as an abortifacient. But all of that is extremely far from this claim of them wanting to make birth control completely illegal and punish people who give someone it. That appears, as far as I can tell, to be completely made up.

If one wants a classy, and old-school right wing party of the 20th century, Project 2025 would not be a good fit. The days of classy politics is over, and has been since the 2010s or so.

I think both sides of politics is way too far. Common sense is gone. And we seem to have one networks lying or making things seem like things aren't a big deal. And we're just seeing nothing but craziness.

I did a search to try to find evidence. No one that I found, even critics of Project 2025, offered any evidence they were trying to make birth control illegal; in fact, most of the critics I found of it didn't make that claim. A few critics did, but none supplied actual evidence (one tried offering a quote from it, but the quote didn't back their claim up at all).

As you were the one who made the claim they were trying to ban birth control and make it a crime, why don't you offer the evidence? Point to the place in Project 2025 where they advocated such a thing. Because like I said, even people I found who were trying to warn about how bad Project 2025 was (in their view, at least) didn't claim that.

Agreed. Sounds like division will be stuff that will happen just before the Great Tribulation, if you believe that Revelation is mostly set in the future. Both sides, the media, and the world has gone off the rails. I would do anything, just to live in the 1970s-2000s when both parties got along with each other better.

Guys, we should focus on preaching the purest form of the Gospel, not writing 900 page manifestos. Firstly, we must show in our actions kindness to others. Then, we can talk about what Jesus said. Finally, we must preach to the Atheists, Hindus, Muslims, Jews and the other religions about Jesus. Do you have any Jewish friends? If so, tell them about Jesus, and how He is the way to the Father.

A controversial example of agency reform is found in chapter 14, which focuses on the Department of Health and Human Services. Here, the authors laid out a radical shift in how the department would interact with the public. Abortion would no longer be deemed healthcare, abortion pill access would be greatly restricted, and a pro-life task force would be created. The nuclear family—anchored by a father and mother—would be viewed as the foundation for a healthy and stable society.

In the USA, those ideas about abortion and also access to the abortion pill can ONLY be legislated at a Federal Level by the Congress and then signed into law by the POTUS. The chances of that successfully happening are, in my opinion, Slim to None..... and None has a gigantic lead over Slim.

Points 1 and 4 of the American Solidarity party platform say the same thing, about protecting the family, and protecting unborn babies. :) I will try to convince my Catholic friends to go for the American Solidarity party, as it is pro-America and pro-Christianity. My boss at work is Catholic as well, and is more liberal compared to myself, but is a good guy. He is not into 3rd parties sadly, but I try to keep politics outside of work.

The book banning is true. They want to remove inappropriate titles from the shelves to protect children. I immediately thought of Anthem.

~bella
The books that the socially conservative right wants to have banned from public libraries are sexually explicit books which there are more than a few examples over the last couple of years of adults being harshly criticized by members of the school boards as the adult citizens attending the school boards meetings that have been open to the public. School board members don't want sexually explicit scenes read out loud at those meetings. However, those same school board members apparently don't care if teens or pre-teens can check out and read those library books.

I like what I am reading about the American Solidarity Party. However, in order for them to be realistically effective enough to make a real difference, that party ought to focus their efforts to win congressional seats inside the US House of Representatives, or win a couple of elections across the USA for the US Senate. I am just being real here, my friend. Third party, independent party nominees for POTUS will never win a presidential election until after a party like the American Solidarity Party has effectively become just as strong politically as either the Democratic Party or the GOP. I'm sure that I ain't telling you anything that you don't already understand, @AlexB23 because I very strongly believe that you are very, very intelligent.

Yep, in fact, a Christian University allowed this woke stuff to be displayed to younger children. Our society is going downhill, on both sides, but I have to say, it started with the left in the mid to late 2010s, and has gotten worse in the 2020s decade (which will sadly not end until December 31, 2029).

Same here, @Hans Blaster is also a good guy, and he has said that the American Solidarity Party has no chance either. The Democrats do not like the American Solidarity Party (ASP) enough, cos it is too conservative for them. We have to strengthen the third party somehow. This is the cold, hard reality of the two party system. We never get a party that has deep Christian roots. A lot of Christians, if told about the Solidarity Party like the ideals of it, but until we can get a few senators into office, the ASP will not stand a chance.

Hey, at least we both like this little party. It reminds me of old-school Republicans of the 1970s, such as Richard Nixon who founded the EPA. I should have been born in 1959 instead of 1999. But hey, at least I live in 2024, so I can spread the Gospel online through this forum and through technology.

I concur and Americans are too complacent. They let a lot of things go and that doesn't bode well for future. You know how the saying goes. Give an inch and they'll take a mile. By the time we're fed up it will be too late.

ASP and any other "alt" party is going nowhere in the current constitutional system. As of now its a vanity vote, an expression of your self rather than a choice that could affect the way the country goes.

That could change in a proportion representation congress, or a ranked preference voting system.

Yeah, @wing2000 likes the concept of a Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) system as well. We need a system like this, so we can get some good candidates out here. It is getting late here though, but I might dream of ranked choice voting ;) God bless, brother. I'll be back here some time tomorrow.
