  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump picked VP

I heard he is Catholic.

Trump certainly surrounds himself with Catholics or Christian but recently, mostly Catholic.
Yes, he does, and 'Catholic' seems to come up often. Some of his staunchest supporters both in the media and in politics are devout Catholics. I've noticed that, too.

I think maybe Trump could join? he certainly puts a lot of stock into their prayers over him.
Never can tell!

Laura Ingraham (Fox News) is one of Trump's long-time, biggest supporters.
Laura is a committed (conservative) Catholic.

On Monday nite's show, after the JD Vance announcement, Laura commented to a guest on her show (also a Catholic) that what they need to do now is to get Trump into the Catholic Church. (She said it as if joking, but I don't think she was!) lol

One can hope and pray. My prayers for Hillary in that regard are still unanswered. It would be wonderful if Trump could crack. Did he have a 'Damascus Moment' on Saturday?

While Trump's been in attendance at the RNC Convention each nite this week, we have not heard him speak yet. Trump will speak tomorrow nite (Thursday). I'm very anxious to hear him. I heard that after the assassination attempt, he tore up his prepared speech for Thursday nite and a new one is being prepared. I understand the theme is suppose to be 'Unity'. I notice they've been weaving that theme into some of the RNC speeches this week.

I was very surprised to learn this morn that Trump and JD will be doing a rally this Saturday, in Michigan. (Can you believe it?!? Just one week after being shot at. Like, WOW!?!)

A lot of the priests who open for him have probably kept him going.

He faced death, that could be a strong push. And an ear with a hole for life.

But he has usually preferred Catholics.
Supreme court. His rallies. His friends [I think some priests]

If he didn't have firm faith, he probably has a new perspective. I have to find a funny video of an opening where a priest imitated him.

So I checked to see where (Father) Frank Pavone stands these days with Trump with regards to the abortion issue.

And as I suspected, Fr. Frank is right there this week at the RNC Convention, and still very much a Trump supporter:

Scott visits with one of the warriors of the Pro-Life Movement, Father Frank Pavone who tells us that Donald Trump is striking the perfect campaign balance when it comes to the abortion battle.

I'm not sure I can call it a perfect balance.

Keep praying - offer up every Mass for the end of abortion.
I've been praying for eons.

PPF gives out Christian Catholic brochures telling people with a conscience that abortion is removing tissue. Not life. It's not life yet.
Instead of pursuing adoption resources.

I firmly believe that 'Christian' non profits should set up residence next door and hand out other resources for keeping the baby.

I went back and re-watched the video.

And I don't see where Fr. Frank himself referred to it as 'the perfect campaign balance'.
(That appears to be the interviewer's/radio station's take on their discussion; not Fr. Frank's actual words.)

I'm very glad to see that Fr. Frank is still involved with, and has influence within, the Trump world.

No matter what one may personally think of Fr. Frank, or his relationship to the pope, he's never stopped fighting for the unborn, or their mothers. I respect and greatly appreciate his commitment to pro-life ministry.

Fr. Jason Charron prayed on stage just before the assassination attempt on Donald Trump. And incredibly, he told people in the crowd to pray for the former president, saying "there are people who want to shoot him, there are people who want to kill him." Moments later a bullet grazed the former president's right ear. EWTN's Colm Flynn interviewed Fr. Jason Charron.
