  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Kevin Sorbo went to a local Barnes and Noble to check out some of the kids books they had, you'll be shocked by what he found.
Books like "Twas The Night Before Pride" "Woke Baby" and "People of Pride" were all in the children's book section!
This makes it clear that Barnes & Noble is more worried about pushing an agenda that promoting, wholesome, good children's content. And it isn't only Barnes & Noble. Target, Disney, and a ton of other examples are blntantly pushing an agenda. We need to stop giving our money to these brands.
We need to support brands that stand up for the values that matter to us, instead of trying to tear them down. Brands that are safe for our children and their young imaginations.
And BRAVE Books is just that. We make content that not only entertains children but will also strengthen their character and teach traditional biblical values.
Our books teach values like hard work, perseverance, and humility. When you join our Freedom Island Book Club, you will get a new book sent to your door every single month that teaches a different pro-God, pro-America value.
Plus, for a limited time, you’ll get Kevin Sorbo’s brand new book for FREE! Claim this limited time offer by clicking the link below!

It is scary how we are exposing little children, or people under 18 to this crap. We need more Christian books for children.

Used to have them.
Or veggie tales to promote scriptures.

Evil wants to start from innocent children to brainwash them early.

I remember Veggie Tales. It was a good show. Yeah, Christian media was popular before the 2010s, but then suddenly died out for some reason. Probably the woke folks wanted to shut down Christian media.

It's terrible how much a pushy mean group can get things done vs mainstream.
They started attacking pastors for being judgmental of the gay lgbqt group.
So were not allowed to promote hate speech - including quoting scriptures that disagreed.

I have been on this forum [2005] since you were too young to see the huge changes.

It is awful. I have witnessed huge changes since 2016 or so, and the stuff has gotten really woke since 2019 or so.

It was whack when hate speech became a thing.
Threats on churches.

Everything is a slippery slope.

We are nearing the End Days, sister.
If the world would turn back to the Lord... maybe more could convert.
I just see it's possible the end may come, but have dread for unbelievers.

I used to go to Barnes and Noble all the time, twenty, thirty years ago.

Now, I buy books almost exclusively from Amazon.com, or yard and library sales.

Same here in the 2000s and early 2010s, before books became outlets for some authors to display their turn ons and gross fantasies in ink. Older books are much better. Also, the brownies at Starbucks inside the bookstore were good.

I just went through some of my old books and ran across a dozen or so old Reader's Digest Condensed Books from my folks and my aunt (now all lamentable deceased!) that had selections in them I'd read when I was a kid.

I went through them and ordered the full-length books from Amazon, and donated the condensed books to Goodwill. Came to about eight books to add to my summer reading list. :)

May your folks and aunt rest in peace.

But yes, condensed books are good stuff. What were the titles of the full length books? It is hard to find books with positive themes in 2024, and a lot of them are dark nowadays.

:) They all died many years ago, but thank you for your kind thoughts.

The books are all from the late 1950s to early 1970s; but the titles are:

Summer of the Red Wolf, by Morris West (1971); about a guy who moves to the Outer Hebrides Islands off Scotland, has encounters with a shady gun runner for the IRA, and finds a nice young female doctor, marries her, and lives happily ever after.

Kim: A Gift From Vietnam, by Frank Chinnock (1971); a man goes to South Vietnam in 1968 to adopt a war orphan, and how the adopted girl brings joy to his family.

Bless the Beasts and Children, by Glendon Swarthout (1970); a group of misfits at a boy's camp in Arizona go AWOL to set free a herd of buffalo about to be shot down by "sportsmen".

The Snake, by John Godey (1978); a South African sailor smuggling a black mamba into New York City is mugged in Central Park, and the snake gets away. The snake starts killing joggers, etc., and the city goes into an upheaval. It's up to a lone herpetologist to save the day.

I Can Jump Puddles, by Alan Marshall (1955); a little boy in rural Australia loses the use of his legs, but doesn't let it slow him down from having an adventurous childhood.

Malevil, by Robert Merle (1975); a man who lives in a 12th-century castle outside Paris is giving a party when a nuclear war breaks out. Because they are inside the thick stone walls of the castle, they survive the blast, and in the ensuing years, he becomes the feudal lord of the survivors of the district.

Captain Newman, M.D., by Leo Rosten (1963); a military psychologist on an Air Force base in World War II treats various cases of what we would now call PTSD, and finds romance with a kind-hearted nurse.

A Woman In the House, by William Barrett (1971); a Russian Orthodox monk who has escaped the Soviet Union is doing art restoration for the mother superior of a Catholic convent in Munich, Germany. He stays in an abandoned radio station belonging to the US Army. One day, he finds a young woman, very ill, and with no options available, takes her to his place and tends to her. She is a refugee from Czechoslovakia and without proper papers. They eventually fall in love, get married, and move to Frankfurt, where they lie happily ever after.
