  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It's not birth control pills that cause abortions. People cause abortion.

I suppose you'll want to ban cars next.
It's a "Plan B" pill which disallows the implantation of the fertilized egg. That's not birth control, it causes the death of the fertilized egg.
[Edit] Not Plan B, but Misoprostol.

Like the UK bans the level of gun ownership the USA has, right? Or would you like your country to imitate the USA in that respect, since "guns don't kill people; people do"?

A hypothetical question, of course. It just gives me pause whenever I see a talking point from the American Right-Wing gun lobby coming out of someone not from America who is surely (rightly) critical of America's abysmal rate of gun violence and the culture surrounding it, as all non-gun-nuts everywhere are. Seems like playing both sides of the fence simultaneously, depending on how the murder is achieved.

Which isn't a human child.

What an oddly pro-choice (to keep being pregnant) article, that seems to be totally unaware of its own irony.
It's not a pro-choice article.

Incorrect. "Plan B" is the same as standard hormonal birth control at a higher dose. It does not prevent implantation or the death of a fertilized egg. Plan B, like hormonal birth control, prevents ovulation. There is no egg to be fertilized.

From the article: As he recounted: “My sister was the victim of a terrible domestic-violence attack where her then-husband tried to kill their third child, who was then in utero, by grinding up misoprostol and placing it into drinks on seven different occasions and handing them to my sister. … I just felt like this was a commonsense piece of legislation to put additional steps in place ... [as] we want to make sure that they don’t get in the hands of bad actors.”

Misoprostol is one of the ingredients in chemical death of unborn children. (Maybe I got the company name for it wrong. As a Catholic, Plan B is forbidden too.)

That sounds like former and current Trump campaign aid Jason Miller who slipped one of his pregnant mistresses (he had two) abortion drugs.

No, you got the drug completely wrong. Plan B is not mifopristol.

That's what I said, I got the name wrong. Good link with Trump. ;)
You are correct that you were incorrect!?

This is a fine mid-year contender for the Doublethink of the Year Award!

And it would sit there in the bottle forever on its own. Pills don’t cause eggs not to implant, people do.

Also, this is clearly about criminal activity, not about abortion or the deregulation of the drugs. Giving anyone ANY drug, even over the counter drugs without their knowledge and consent or from an authoritative position (i.e. EMT trying to save a life or police calming a suspect with ketamine - which might still be ruled illegal after the fact) is illegal.

I think the point of the article is that making these drugs easy to obtain is creating a situation where they're given to people unknowingly or under duress.
