  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Supreme Court of Texas ruled Friday in favor of Dianne Hensley, a justice of the peace in Waco reprimanded for not performing same-sex weddings, reinstating her lawsuit against the State Commission on Judicial Conduct.

The commission had previously issued a public warning for her refusal to officiate same-sex weddings, citing a violation of judicial impartiality based on sexual orientation.

In an 8-1 decision, the court found that Hensley's decision not to appeal the commission's warning to a Special Court of Review before filing a lawsuit in civil court does not prevent her from pursuing her lawsuit.

How do you feel about this michie .
If we are for religious freedom then we should have no issues with it. There are many others that are willing to officiate gay unions.

If someone does not provide a particular service that goes against their faith or conscience most reasonable people seek out those who do.

The court's majority opinion stressed that while judges must follow the law impartially, they are not required to officiate at weddings as part of their judicial duties. The opinion further clarified that Hensley's decision to refer same-sex couples to other officiants does not necessarily imply bias or prejudice.

Justice Jimmy Blacklock, joined by Justice John Devine in a concurring opinion, argued that the commission's actions against Hensley constituted unlawful religious discrimination. They expressed that politely declining to participate in a same-sex wedding for religious reasons does not demonstrate an inability to judge impartially.

The court said that she could go ahead with a civil suit even though she hadn't appealed to the Special Court of Review first.
We'll see where her civil suit goes.

The most loving most tolerant generation aint so loving and tolerant michie .
As i am sure you probably already know this .
Its not like i am gonna walk into a gay cake bakers place and demand
they bake a cake for me .
But woe wail anyone who dares not to do their bidding . And this generation will seek for and hunt for
anyone who does not conform to their so called sin .
Its kinda like the days of lott .
Howso you might ask .
What did the peoples say to LOTT when he simply warned them not to do so wickedly
and even offered up his own daughters .
YOU JUDGING US , now we gonna do worse to you .
Kinda like the cake baker .
HE too offered up items and such but just told them i cannot bake this wedding cake for you
THEY TOOK HIM TO COURT sister .
these tolerance led to A big time Boldness for them .
THEY got the power now michie . sadly the church gave this to them .
Cause we the ones that stopped correcting error within the church and rather
just tried to get along with anything .
You cannot appease , for in time when it gains the ground
BELIEVE you me it wont be tolerant towards anything that dont HONOR IT .
When sin is allowed , not corrected within the church
when voices that do correct are silenced in the name of so called love and tolerance
EVIL is gonna gain the ground . And when it do , Expect NO mercy to any who do not conform to it .

I agree completely. No one, absolutely no one, should be forced to do something they think is wrong.
