Snopes detailed in its fact check that Trump was clear he was not calling neo-Nazis "fine people" when he made the comment at a press conference that year. "While Trump did say that there were ‘very fine people on both sides,’ he also specifically noted that he was not talking about neo-Nazis and White supremacists and said they should be 'condemned totally.' Therefore, we have rated this claim 'False,'" Snopes wrote.

Good for them! They surprised me and I hope Snopes continues to strive for the truth.

I like Snopes. It has shown me that both Trump and Biden have lied. :) So yes, both candidates have lied in the past, and even nowadays. God bless Snopes for revealing the truth about both candidates.

It always bothers me when people read the worst into whatever Trump says. Demonizing him is not necessary. I mean seriously, it really, really isn't necessary.
I do agree. Even though Trump has said some bad things, and is not a good candidate, both sides have faults, as shown by Snopes. Snopes is a centrist entity, so I trust them.

Biden has said several times that statement by Trump is the reason he decided to run for president. This was him saying that a few months ago.

So his presidential run was based on a lie.
He also lied about the truck driver involved in his first wife's fatal accident (Biden claimed he was a drunk driver) . Just another of many.

These “lies” are rhetorical devices.
You just don’t come out and say, “don’t drink and drive!”; you give the audience a truth, (wife and daughter killed in car crash) and a “morality tale”, drunk-drivers are bad!

Personal anecdotes stem from one’s own history, (if we each look back at our personal history, what changes could we each see in what we tell ourselves to be “true”?)

If one should think that one hasn’t “amended memories”, one is lying to oneself.

But then, we’re not out giving speeches and telling our personal anecdotes, faulty as they might be.

These petty fibs are part of his schtick, his palaver. He’s been telling these stories for fifty-odd years, (not now Groucho!), If there wasn’t some variation and “morality-tales”, I’d be a little bit disappointed.

But if one really needs to be angry over these things, go right ahead.

He would say that the driver "drank his lunch" he was sued for it.

I didn’t see a suit being mentioned in your link, the quote from the article was
CBSNews said:
At least twice, Biden himself has made public references to alcohol being involved in the crash. In 2007 Biden said the truck driver "allegedly ... drank his lunch." And multiple news outlets, including CBS News, have reported that Dunn was drunk.

”Allegedly” is grownup speak for “people are saying”.

Biden used this untrue story to garner the sympathy vote on the campaign trail, probably ruining this man's reputation. He was not charged for DUI, or even fault in the accident.

I guess it shouldn't; the fact that a 50 year politician, uses a constituent as fodder to prosper himself.

A real "man of the people" right there, yesiree!

So did all the propagandist - times after time - day after day.

There are people still today that believe it -
How many times did people use that Snopes "fact check" in arguments in this forum?

Is it just me, or is this a distinction without a difference? Yes, he didn't say that white white supremacists or nazis were good people. But he did say there were good people on the side that the nazis were marching on. Call me strange, but if you show up at a rally and see numerous nazis and think "oh, these are the type of people I want to march alongside", well then I will have a very hard time considering you a good person.

Beats me - not nearly as many as those who quoted the propaganda media day after day. That is why so many fell for the lie.

The answer to your question is in listening to the entire statement in context - the man made it pretty clear and the propagandist only repeated one portion so many times people actually began to believe the lie.

You have a copy the police report? Just curious.

What were the DUI laws in Delaware in 1972? I know nationwide that laws became much more strict during the 80s and 90s. Did that police department even have Breathalyzers back then?
