Jeremiah 23:
John 12:
Ephesians 4:
Maybe not. BDAG πληρόω:
④ to bring to a designed end, fulfill a prophecy ⑤ to bring to completion an activity in which one has been involved from its beginning, complete, finish
Colossians 1:
If Eph 4:10 is not physically filling, then what is its significance?
Paul continued in Colossians 1:
This could be literally true. There is an invisible attribute of God that fills the universe. It could be some kind of invisible particle yet to be detected, the so-called God's particle.24 Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? declares the LORD. Do I not fill [G4137] heaven and earth? declares the LORD.
John 12:
The place was filled with some invisible aromatic/chemical molecules.3 Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled [G4137] with the fragrance of the perfume.
Ephesians 4:
Is this physical filling?10 He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill [G4137] all things."
Maybe not. BDAG πληρόω:
④ to bring to a designed end, fulfill a prophecy ⑤ to bring to completion an activity in which one has been involved from its beginning, complete, finish
Colossians 1:
This filling happened at the time of creation, not around the time of Jesus' resurrection. Eph 4:10 seems to be talking about the time of the cross.15 [Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
If Eph 4:10 is not physically filling, then what is its significance?
Paul continued in Colossians 1:
Jesus descended to the lowest realm and ascended to the highest realm to 'fill' all and fulfill the prophecy that he should be preeminent of all things.18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.
