Hello,

Why should I continue being a Christian if God has given me a rubbish adulthood?

I am single and try hard to find someone, I live in one room and I have no mortgage to get a house or a flat, I have no savings, I don't have a car, God can't seem to heal my mental illnesses, no children, I always struggle for money and I don't know if Christians need to keep the Law of Moses or not.

I show my love to God but I get nothing back in return. What a cruel God! Where are his blessings? His love is an absolute joke.

Never give up your love and faith in God. No matter how hard it gets. We are only here for a blink of an eye my friend.

Jesus is carrying you while you carry your cross in life.

You are not alone in your struggles. Many of us are going through bad times. Myself included. Both mentally and physically.

Keep praying to God. Offer up your suffering to Him.

I know, its not easy. We all want change now. We all want the pain to go now. Be strong my friend.

God bless and protect you and answer your prayers..

Hello @lollykh, whenever I've questioned whether God really loves me or not, it's never too long before I find myself back at the foot of the Cross with my question answered .. e.g. Romans 5:8, 9-10:amen:

Then, whenever I find that things are going badly for me (even REALLY badly), or even when things simply don't seem to be going the way that I intended or think that they should, I have 1. the assurance of His love for me to rest in, and then 2. the promise that He made to ALL of us who are His by adoption, the promise found in Romans 8:28, 32 that tells us that He is working ALL things (both the things that seem "good" to us AND the things that seem "bad" in the moment) together for our good, because He loves us, always wants the very best for us, and sees that we get it (even though what is TRULY necessary and good for us may seem like anything else than that to us while we are living/suffering through it :oops:).

So, hang in there (as @Lost4words, who is clearly NOT lost for words today, just said to you ;)), and trust/hope in the One who is your portion (in this world and beyond), knowing that as difficult as life may seem to you right now, the Lord is doing exactly what He knows is best/knows that you need most right now (to grow you up in Christlikeness and to see you safely through this life to be with Him, forevermore :)).

God bless you!! (Numbers 6:24-26)

--David
p.s. - as Christians, we don't keep God's moral laws to be saved or to remain saved, we keep them/obey them because we ~want~ to do so/because it is now our hearts desire to do so :)

I too am sorry for all your hardships. Given that you are unsure about the law of Moses, I think you probably have other misconceptions about God too. Jesus fulfilled the law and when you were born again you got the Holy Spirit residing on the inside of you. "The Bible sometimes says the “Spirit of Christ” lives inside believers (Romans 8:9). More often it says the “Spirit of God” (Romans 8:9) or just the “Holy Spirit” is in us (1 Corinthians 6:19). Those phrases all mean the same thing: when we believe, God establishes a relationship with us that’s so close that we become one with him. He’s in us, and we’re in him." Source: God Lives in You - Holy Spirit Power | What is the Holy Spirit?

With the Spirit residing in you, you will learn to be led of the Spirit. The law was just a tutor, who pointed to the truth, that truth was that it was impossible to fulfill. Now that we have the Spirit, the tutor is gone. Sure some things of the law remain but we do the right things because it is God in us, not because of the law. Murder, theft, lying, immorality are not in us. To commit those sins now we have to override God in us.

As to the lack of a husband, I think there are some misconceptions there too. God is really on your side with marriage. There are lots of men praying for partners. I'm far older than you but once I finally quit being immoral in dating, (after taking a long break) I told God I desired a relationship, His response in that was unbelievable and Lord willing, I soon will be married. I am not saying your issue is the same as me. It likely is some basic stuff about God that you fail to understand. Perhaps similar to how you are (or were) not sure about the law. Once you get out of that desert wandering, (so to speak) God will open doors for your relationship. I pray you can see the goodness of God in all this. That one day you will even laugh knowing that God was good to let you hit bottom so you could correct anything that might be hindering you from achieving the victory that God desires.
Remember it is not just about where you are now, but where you are going. Sure God could have sent a half-baked, confused man to you. But it's not a great recipe because someone needs to get a hold of the goodness and grace of God and that relationship likely will not cut it. I would purpose to pick myself up and find some nuggets of truth that GOD IS ON YOUR SIDE and He desires your happiness even more than you. I am not saying you won't have some suffering either, that is a sure thing, but if you are suffering constantly and going nowhere it is possible to get unstuck, I have seen it happen many times. Anyway, praying you have a better journey with some serious wins in your Christian walk, that you plug up the gaps in your theology and knowledge about God and really get moving in joy and the other good things that God has for you.

I am a Latter-day Saint - this website does not consider me to be a Christian - and I obviously disagree - but I thought I would share something with you that I hope you would find uplifting - if you don't mind.

Joseph Smith Jr - a man I consider to be a prophet - had been imprisoned in Liberty, Missouri for several months - and it was basically a hole cut in the ground underneath the floor of a building - horrible freezing conditions.

Anyways - for months he had received news that members of the Church had been driven from their homes, beaten and killed following Governor Boggs' signing of "the Extermination Order" - and he complained to God thusly,

"O God, where art thou? And where is the pavilion that covereth thy hiding place?

How long shall thy hand be stayed, and thine eye, yea thy pure eye, behold from the eternal heavens the wrongs of thy people and of thy servants, and thine ear be penetrated with their cries?

Yea, O Lord, how long shall they suffer these wrongs and unlawful oppressions, before thine heart shall be softened toward them, and thy bowels be moved with compassion toward them?

O Lord God Almighty, maker of heaven, earth, and seas, and of all things that in them are, and who controllest and subjectest the devil, and the dark and benighted dominion of Sheol—stretch forth thy hand; let thine eye pierce; let thy pavilion be taken up; let thy hiding place no longer be covered; let thine ear be inclined; let thine heart be softened, and thy bowels moved with compassion toward us." (Doctrine and Covenants 121:1-4)

But he received this in response to his complaints,

"My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment;

And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes." (Doctrine and Covenants 121:7-8)

The Lord continued to counsel Joseph into the next chapter,

"If thou art called to pass through tribulation; if thou art in perils among false brethren; if thou art in perils among robbers; if thou art in perils by land or by sea;

If thou art accused with all manner of false accusations; if thine enemies fall upon thee; if they tear thee from the society of thy father and mother and brethren and sisters; and if with a drawn sword thine enemies tear thee from the bosom of thy wife, and of thine offspring, and thine elder son, although but six years of age, shall cling to thy garments, and shall say, My father, my father, why can’t you stay with us? O, my father, what are the men going to do with you? and if then he shall be thrust from thee by the sword, and thou be dragged to prison, and thine enemies prowl around thee like wolves for the blood of the lamb;

And if thou shouldst be cast into the pit, or into the hands of murderers, and the sentence of death passed upon thee; if thou be cast into the deep; if the billowing surge conspire against thee; if fierce winds become thine enemy; if the heavens gather blackness, and all the elements combine to hedge up the way; and above all, if the very jaws of hell shall gape open the mouth wide after thee, know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good.

The Son of Man hath descended below them all. Art thou greater than he?" (Doctrine and Covenants 122:5-8)

No matter how bad things get - just remember they were worse for the Lord Jesus Christ - He did that for you, and He never gave up.

I'm sorry to hear about the struggles you're facing. It's understandable that you're feeling frustrated and discouraged. It's important to remember that everyone's journey is different and that challenges are a part of life, regardless of faith.

Being a Christian doesn't guarantee a life free from difficulties, but it can provide hope, comfort, and community during tough times. It's okay to question and doubt, but it's also important to seek guidance and support from fellow believers and spiritual leaders.

It's also worth considering that blessings and love from God may not always come in the form we expect or desire. Sometimes, they come in the form of strength, resilience, and the support of others. It's said that God doesn't give us more than we can handle, and while it may not always feel that way, it's a reminder that we have the strength within us to overcome our challenges.

I encourage you to seek out a supportive local Christian community, discuss your doubts and struggles and continue to seek understanding and peace in your faith journey.

You have to think about how suffering and illness came in the world because of sin, and because of the devil. And he is making it worse. Everyone have their cross to bear. Even if it doesn't seem to be. God doesn't promise that you will go through life and not have problems, illnesses and death. Unfortunately. He promised to go with you through it. That he always keeps believers healthy and happy isn't true. Think about Paul. He suffered a thorn in his flesh. Think about how the Christians were treated. Think about how it's been through the ages. It's certainly not cheer.
But as well now God wants you to do what you can to be well. To seek the help you need, and treatments. And treat yourself well. As well as church, and healthy connections. Then everything else will come. But not if you isolate yourself which is a bad idea. Do what you can, each day.
As well a healthy diet without processed foid, sugar, sugar drinks and little carbs but a green diet with fat fish and chicken and vegetable will help tremendous on your mental health no matter diagnosis

If you aren't prepared for struggle times and living a holy life with a close relationship with God you're gonna fall in times of testing and trouble. But remember the godly falk, but rise again
