Good for him.

I paid back my student loans with my own money and work full time.

Can President Biden please recognize my very small achievement? ;)

According to GovSalaries.com, Carter earned approximately $132,000 serving as mayor in 2021.

The mayor is 45 years old and had not paid off his student loans.
Read the rest of the article. He owed less than $12,000 and had been making regular payments for 10+ years.
In most cases, the principal wA paid but high interest rates put them over a barrel.

Why should I have to pay off his student loan with my taxpayer dollars? Why can't he pay my bills? He could have sold his rental property and paid off his student loan.

One reason why so many loans have been cancelled is because Betsy DeVos tried to play hardball with student debtors who had gone to educational institutions that went belly up, cheated them, or didn't deliver on their educational promises.
Just before President Barack Obama left office, he made it easier for students defrauded by for-profit colleges to apply for the federal debt relief they had long been entitled to.

But the Trump administration, which disagrees with the policy, allowed a massive backlog of more than 200,000 claims to pile up – leaving some borrowers waiting throughout the entire administration to hear whether they’ll get a break.

The Obama-era rule, known as Borrower Defense to Repayment, clarified the process for those seeking relief. The number of these applications soared as the Obama administration cracked down on for-profit colleges. https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/19/politics/student-loan-relief-devos-trump-biden/index.html
So part of the relief that seems so "excessive" to some of you was due to former President Trump's belief that tax cuts for billionaires was more important than giving loan forgiveness to defrauded students. (Of course, since his own Trump University lost a $25 million lawsuit for defrauding students, I guess it should have been expected.

Sorry. I was being too prideful.

Forgive me

Joe has defied the ruling of the Supreme Court, his goal is to hand out as much taxpayer money as possible in a veiled effort to get votes. The mayor is pushing hard for reparations based on race. How about dealing with violent crime and runaway inflation instead?

Please link this defiance of the President to a Supreme Court ruling…or lemme guess, the Supreme Court listed the things that were “wrong” in Biden’s first attempt and he wrote a proclamation or an executive order reflecting the High Court’s ruling and tried again…that’s not “defying” that’s listening to the court and trying again.

Like Donald Trump did after the first draft of the so-called Muslim ban went to SCOTUS and got axed, the Trump Administration fiddled with the original enough that the second attempt passed SC muster.
