A 30-year-old mother in England has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a mandatory minimum of 25 years for the murder of her 3-year-old son after she attempted to justify weeks of abuse preceding the child's death by saying the "the Bible advised it.”

During the trial at Newcastle Crown Court, evidence emerged that Christina Robinson, from Tamworth, Staffordshire, subjected her son, Dwelaniyah, to a prolonged period of cruelty, utilizing a bamboo cane for beatings, which she justified using biblical scripture as guidance, The Telegraphreported.

This scripture, she claimed, sanctioned physical chastisement to correct a child's behavior. Robinson's defense centered around these religious beliefs linked to the Black Hebrew Israelite movement, a faith she adheres to.

Man, so many so-called Christians are ignoring the words of Jesus. God never told anyone to hurt people. In Ephesians 6:4, Paul urges fathers to bring up their children in the training and instruction of the Lord. This verse emphasizes the role of parents in nurturing their children's spiritual growth and development, and encourages mothers and fathers to be patient and nurturing rather than exasperating or discouraging.

From April Devotional: Ephesians 4:31-32 & Matthew 26:52 Study

DateApril 20, 2024
VerseEphesians 4:31-32 (ESV): "Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you."

Matthew 26:52 (ESV): "Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place. For all who take the sword will perish by the sword."
ExplanationEphesians 4:31-32 is a call for Christians to put away negative emotions and behaviors such as bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, slander, and malice, and instead be kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving towards one another. This passage emphasizes the importance of love, kindness, and forgiveness in the Christian community.

Matthew 26:52, on the other hand, is a command from Jesus to one of His disciples, Peter, to put away his sword after attempting to defend Jesus with violence. Jesus' message here was that violence and the use of force are not the solutions to conflicts or threats, but rather, love, peace, and forgiveness should be pursued.

Both passages emphasize the importance of non-violence and forgiveness in the context of religious beliefs and communities. Cults or individuals who use tainted religious views as an excuse to commit heinous acts, such as violence, are in direct opposition to these teachings.

That mother in England should get what the Bible "advises" she gets as well.

A good old fashioned stoning, under the OT laws. Thankfully, under a NT law of Jesus, a lifelong prison sentence should do the trick.

*Legal disclaimer: I do not condone stoning.

No.

The death penalty was instituted LONG BEFORE the Law.

Genesis 9:6 Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

True, but now Jesus has changed this, right, as said in Matthew and John?

Matthew 5:38-48: "You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also. And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two. Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away."

John 8:7: "So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her."

John 8:7 effectively bans throwing stones and death penalties, as nobody on this earth is without sin, therefore, nobody can throw a stone.

Then what's she doing in prison?

And for the record:

John 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

Umm, this is about the acts of this deranged woman, not a debate on death penalty.

Isaiah 61:8: "For I, the Lord, love justice; I hate robbery, for burnt offering; I will direct their work in truth, And will make with them an everlasting covenant."

Micah 6:8: "He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love [a]mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?"

Both from NKJV.

All I think she should get is what the Bible says she should get, long before the Law came about.

If you want to exonerate her from that, based on Jesus exonerating another woman who did something worthy of death, based on the Law, then do so.

Take her out, stoop down, write in the sand, then let her go.

Again -- what is she doing in prison?

For killing someone, she belongs in prison for life, without parole. Execution is an easy way out.

You're entitled to your own opinion then.

Not God's.

Execution is an easy way out.

You're not making sense.

Either execute her, or let her walk scot free.

Leave prison out of this.

Black and white. God bless. I am done here. I'd rather see someone rot in a cold jail cell and repent of her sins, than having her get off scot free by execution. There is a reason why some people say that death is a way out (such as the far-left Canadian Prime Minister, who supports euthanasia).

Some people really like to antagonize here on this forum, from both extremes.
