Luke 6:
2 Thessalonians 3:
This was typical Eastern poetic hyperbole. Jesus often used it to illustrate deeper spiritual reality. Jesus' point was: be generous; don't be stingy.27 “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29 If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them.
Again, this was not a literal universal proposition. Doing so may actually hurt the asker.30 Give to everyone who asks you
Give to others as you would have them give to you. You don't want to give someone something that may hurt them.and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.
2 Thessalonians 3:
Jesus liked to use Eastern hyperboles. If he had just said, "Be generous," his words would not have stuck with his hearers as much.10 If a man will not work, neither let him eat.
