US officials say North Korea may be planning military action to create chaos ahead of US election, report says

US officials are preparing for potential North Korean military action — possibly encouraged by Russian President Vladimir Putin — in the run-up to the US election in November, NBC News reported, citing six senior US officials.

Such a move could be designed to create chaos in another part of the world as the election process ramps up, they said.

"We have no doubt that North Korea will be provocative this year. It's just a matter of how escalatory it is," one US intelligence official added.

Following the NBC News report, a campaign spokesperson for Donald Trump said, "The only 'October surprise' will be the look of shock" among reporters when Trump is reelected.
The officials' warning comes ahead of a likely meeting between North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un and Putin, which the Kremlin announced earlier this week was "being prepared."

"President Putin has an active invitation for an official visit to North Korea. The visit is being prepared. We will announce the dates of the trip in due course," Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Friday, French news agency AFP reported.

Russia and North Korea have developed closer relations since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Here's the other article:

Are Russia and North Korea planning an ‘October surprise’ that aids Trump?

Wait, is this the week we’re giving the “Biden Pentagon” credence?

'Tis strange , isn't it?

But we have this fun stuff here: (May 22)

Pentagon Tacitly Admits Biden’s Gaza Pier Stunt Is A Total Failure

It didn’t take long for the Pentagon to all but confirm that the temporary Gaza port constructed at the behest of President Biden is turning out to be a total disaster.

The admission came during a Tuesday press conference, in which Gen. Patrick S. Ryder, the Pentagon’s spokesman, told reporters that none of the 569 metric tons of food and supplies delivered into Hamas-controlled Gaza via the port have been distributed to Gaza residents by nongovernmental organizations. Constructed by the U.S. military, the $320 million floating port was announced earlier this year during Biden’s State of the Union address, a move designed to cater to the pro-Hamas wing of the Democrat Party base.
Since the port’s completion last Thursday, “some trucks, operated by nongovernmental organizations tasked with delivering the aid to another staging area, had been ransacked by looters,” the New York Post reported based on Ryder’s comments. The Associated Press separately reported that just five of 16 trucks operated by the United Nations World Food Program met their intended destinations during aid delivery runs on Saturday.

UNWFP officials said the remaining 11 trucks had been “commandeered” by a Palestinian mob.

Our tax dollars just fed looters and terrorists, yay!

Gaza isn’t on the Korean Peninsula.

Gaza isn’t on the Korean Peninsula.

It was about the Biden admins pentagon in general. I know Gaza is 7,969 miles from Pyongyang.

However, there is actually a connection:
"South Korean officials, two experts on North Korean arms and an Associated Press analysis of weapons captured on the battlefield by Israel point toward Hamas using Pyongyang's F-7 rocket-propelled grenade"

My brother, I already made a post on foreign interference, though I did not mention N. Korea, nor military action.

What "military action" could N. Korea engage in?

A missile test? They do those whenever and none have ever impacted US domestic politics.

A new war? With whom? S. Korea? Russia? China? (They couldn't reach anyone else.)

Kim doesn't seem dumb enough to restart the Korean War to please Putin for a political stunt.

War between N. Korea and Russia or China would be rather amusing...

Not the word I would use, nightmare would be more apt. There’s no realistic scenario where they prevail but many realistic ones that involve horrific numbers of deaths prior to them getting curb stomped. Not to mention the prospect of their WMDs being acquired by actors worse than them in the chaos.

Hopefully, if a war like this happens in Asia, that no WMDs are used, and that the war is brief. If nukes are used, then this would be a nightmare for all of East Asia, putting millions in East Asia at risk of nuclear fallout. Luckily, us on the west should be safe, but still, we should prevent the proliferation of nukes.

Russia, China, and N. Korea already have WMDs. If N. Korea is going to start a war this year, I'd rather it be with Russia or China. (That would mess them up for a while...)

Non-state actors getting the WMDs is what I’m speaking of.

With the proximity of Seoul to North Korea even a fully conventional artillery attack would create a ghastly butchers bill before it could be countered.

Agreed. Seoul (metro) has a population of 10M people, so that is a lot of people at risk, just in that one city.

But they are friends with Russia and China. I wouldn't put it past Kim, Respected Daughter, and Sister to flee underground to Russia as they launch nukes on west coast of US. Of course no one knows where they actually are and Russia denies knowledge, though they could also go to China and China denies knowledge.

As friendly with them as with anyone. I have no idea what the "military action" the OP article is hinting at, so I am left to speculate.

Being a Big Fish in a small pond is likely to be much more preferable to being a “guest fish” in uncharted waters.
You might know war, but international politics would seem elude you.

It really says something when all of the despots, all of the tyrants, and all the loser countries keep trying to aid someone in an American election.

You'd think Americans would see that and think "Man....I wonder WHY they want Trump to win?"

I don't know how Xinping changed the dynamics between China and NKorea but I do know that up until him (and until mid 20teens at least) China found them annoying and tiresome and would NOT want NK dragging China into any kind of conflict.
