Why does life seem so black and white if it's spiritual?

I don't know where to post this but yeah.

I did a lot of damage to my life very quickly I guess. I came to know Christ at age 27. I'm now 31. As much as I pray and pray for deeper meanings of life, more on everlasting life, I just continue to come across the same boring themes...

Everything's so vain. Relationships are built on physical attraction, that once again is better formed if you get a headstart on earlier in life.

I feel by the time I do achieve my goals, I will be too old. Then off to being old, then the grave.

I don't get it. At all. If life is a spiritual thing, God is the living God who's spirit is in is, why is everything so black and white?
Why is it so easy to ruin our calling to happiness? And why do we even want things that in my opinion, are mostly unobtainable?

Well, it is because the Bible says that we will suffer in life. And hey, once our bodies are in the grave, we will be with Jesus in heaven, though try not to accelerate your life, as God wants us to be good stewards of our bodies, as stated in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20: Temple of the Holy Spirit: 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Study

DateMay 3, 2024
VerseMicah 4:4-7 (NIV): "Everyone will sit under their own vine and under their own fig tree, and no one will make them afraid, for the Lord Almighty has spoken. All the nations may walk in the name of their gods, but we will walk in the name of the Lord our God for ever and ever. “In that day,” declares the Lord, “I will gather the lame; I will assemble the exiles and those I have brought to grief. I will make the lame my remnant, those driven away a strong nation. The Lord will rule over them in Mount Zion from that day and forever."

John 14:15-21 (NIV): "If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them."
ExplanationMicah 4:4-7 is a prophetic passage from the Old Testament, where Micah speaks about the future peace and security that God's people will experience. In this passage, Micah describes a time when everyone will live in safety and prosperity under their own vine and fig tree, symbolizing personal provision and protection. Micah also emphasizes that God's people will not be afraid, as the Lord Almighty will be their protector. Furthermore, Micah mentions that even though other nations may follow their own gods, the Israelites will walk in the name of the Lord forever. This passage also includes a promise of God's restoration and gathering of the lame, exiles, and those who have been brought to grief, indicating God's special care and concern for those who suffer or are oppressed.

John 14:15-21 is a passage from the New Testament, where Jesus speaks to his disciples about the importance of loving and obeying Him. In this passage, Jesus assures His followers that if they love Him, they will keep His commands, and in return, He will send them the Holy Spirit as an advocate and companion forever. Jesus emphasizes that the world will not accept the Holy Spirit because they cannot see or understand Him, but His followers will have a personal relationship with Him. Jesus also promises to come back to His disciples and be with them, providing comfort and assurance during His absence. This passage is significant because it shows that God's love and presence are available to all, including those who suffer, have disabilities, or are oppressed.

I feel by the time I do achieve my goals, I will be too old. Then off to being old, then the grave.

What would happen if you asked him how to achieve "thy" goals today, just for today, day after day?
Move your life from a perspective of ownership to servant for a time, from graduate of your own head
to student in his own Heart - it seems like you have reached the correct conclusion that ownership leaves it colorless.
"thy goals" not "my goals" is where the color will return. Seek what His goals are for you for the day, day after day

"for my yoke is easy and my burden light"

So that

"Thy will be done
On Earth as it is in Heaven"

For you *are* on Earth
For a time.

Then, off to being old, then the grave, and then "well done, thy true and faithful servant", for that is what you will have been.

What you are looking for is the Kingdom of God...

20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: 21 neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

...Hand over the keys.

Life is difficult because it doesn't run on spiritual formulas. It's also a fallen world where everyone sins and adds their own secret ingredient of dog poop to the social soup we're all swimming in. It's an Ecclesiastes sort of thing.

Fortunately for you and me, however, Jesus came into this world and let us know that gaining Eternal Life isn't about obtaining the false assurances of success and wealth that so many in this world chase after.

You're not alone. We're all in this together.

What is wrong with being old? It is a lot better than being young. An argument can be made that the prime of life at 30 is best. But I could do the most in my 20's. I think about skiing the moguls in the mountains. The days we had to drag ourselves to work when we would rather be playing. But work was pretty good and fun also. There are stages to life, at least 7. The best thing to do is enjoy each one for what it is worth and what we can get out of it. We can debate what is better or worse but does it really matter? We need to make the most out of each moment we have and what we have to work with.

To grumble and complain does not do anyone any good. In all things we are to give praise, honor and glory to God. That is why we are here and that is what we are called to do.

The apostle Paul tells us there is a real life, and it's not this one. 1 Timothy 6:19
All mankind have life, but we aren't living the real life.
So, perhaps there may be a need for us to understand what the real life is, if we are to get a taste of it, and find real purpose in life.
Like many millions, I have found purpose in life, and it's never dull. It's the most meaningful and enjoyable life ever... In fact, it the only meaningful and truly enjoyable life to be lived, in this life.

Micah 4:4 is one of my favorite passages in the Bible. Also Isaiah 35:5-7
These verses refer to life on the earth though.
If we see future life in heaven with Jesus, these promises would not apply to us.
They apply to those who will live on the earth, under Jesus' rule. Revelation 5:10

Life is NOT black and White
What I refer to as "Binary thinking" as in "Either or thinking" leads only to misery

Life is for living , enjoying, and when you let your worldview cloud this, then step back and look at what the root cause of your problem really is

hint: It is nothing external

You are undoubtedly wise if you have come to the realization of the vanity of life. That is why we die to the world, even to ourselves, to only behold the Face of God as our only desire.
I have always struggled with my weight and mental issues. It's drove me to isolation and obsession with fitness. Previously in life it brought much success, after mental illness and other hurtles it's become harder but still a huge driving factor in my life. I can't quit. I don't know how to quit. I pray a lot
I get stronger as time passes. But I hate it. I feel like it's my calling and somehow it was ruined. It's not fun. I feel like a freak so much of the time. I wish I could have been a painter sometimes. Would be less stressful.

God gives us all of our gifts, talents and abilities at or before conception. WE have to develop who we are to bring praise, honor and glory to God. He will (HS) will guide us along the way to help us become the people He wants us to be. ( Psalm 139 16)

Just thought I would message in hopes that you are someone might get some ideas so they can move on better in their walk with God. All I can say is that your age was the most difficult for me. As you get older, some of that caring for certain things that are unachieved will wear off. I hope this does not fit you but I was a desert wanderer. I stayed with God the entire time but never really got out of the endless circle. My career was OK, though not remarkable. I had chances but I never walked through the doors. Finally circumstances in my relationship broke the cycle for me and after spending more time with God including intermittent fasting for a season. I relaunched in another country and that has changed my life. I pray you have a breakthrough on your relationship with God, that if there is something that is holding you back from achieving more in God that it is broken off you. That you would keep an open channel to God about His guidance, good doctrine and the steps that you can take to be more vibrant for Christ. Also if you think that it is God holding you back, I highly doubt it. You might be stuck on the past and certain goals. For me, I had to give them up and that was not easy. Try and press in more, reflect on what steps you can take to achieve for your future. God has a plan for anyone still breathing and if we lay the past aside, we can find fulfillment in this. God bless!

You're on the Langoliers level of things :tearsofjoy:

It doesn't really matter what your life is or should have been, does it. The futility of life teaches us, ultimately, that not even the next moment is worth taking into consideration. Your only power extends to the here and now, and that is not much.

In fact, the wiset thing you could do is to drive out the money changers. These are the ones who think they can change destiny with their actions.

Ultimately, we die before everything. Only His Glory.

'cry out to me, and i will show you things nobody knows and didn't even occurred to anyone.'

Go to a church where they seek Gods presence and be filled with the Holy spirit.
Thats the objective of a christian, be filled with God presence and Holy spirit. And stay that way.
He will lead you to something worthy.

It's always inspiring to hear uplifting words, either motivational videos or church services. But as soon as you turn around, you always end up in the same drudged and entrenched situation, isn't that so?

Therefore, what I think our friend here needs, is the realization of the seeds of corruption. These are the programs that do not edify the mind soul and body. You merely have to be awake.

Is not inspirational what i said, is really what the human/christian needs, is Gods presence and Holy spirit. There is nothing drudged about that.

Yeah but you say he has to go to church to get the holy spirit. Maybe he will get some holy inspiration. Then as you leave the church, life isn't as inspiring anymore. At least that's my experience.

But I have a question for you. What is the difference between the spirit that God gave man that he should live 120 years, and the Holy Spirit?
