In brief:

1. Money
2. Credit cards
3. Electrical power / communications grids
4. Internet / social media
5. Material goods such as furniture, carpeting, etc.
6. College degrees
7. Organized government

You could probably add to this list such things as social / economic status, transportation grids, pre-packaged food, and a host of other things.

Well, if dollars become useless, a new currency will rise, such as fuel or food (barter economy). :) When one thing goes, another would take root.

Hypothetical conversation in a collapsed society:

Josh: Sir, how much does 5 pound beef cost?
Steve: Hey, that beef will cost you 2 pints of gasoline.
Josh: Nah, I need that gasoline to run my generator. How about 1 pint?
Steve: It's a deal, though you must offer me one more item along with that pint of gas.
Josh: What is that?
Steve: Your sunglasses.
Josh: It's a deal. Smog blocks out the sun anyways, cos of the great oilfield fire which started back in '32.
Steve: Big oil, and Musk's private jet man, those companies brought us back to the dark ages by scorching our Earth.

Yes, I do not like Elon Musk that much, and I should not judge him, though he needs to treat his workers with dignity.
