The students are demanding the university divest from Israel.
“We demand that Columbia sever academic ties with Israeli universities and we demand that Columbia stop censoring and intimidating students who are standing up and advocating for Palestinian liberation,” one student yelled through the gate to the crowd that had gathered on the other side outside of campus.

What you teach children does matter.

Cornell Professor of Law William Jacobson compared the anti-Israel [Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS)] movement sweeping across college campuses to the anti-Capitalist 'Occupy Wall Street' movement

"It’s kind of a different topic here, but it’s really the same topic. I mean, it’s an anti-capitalist movement."

That's the dumbest thing I've heard this morning.

There are laws that limit what can be said about Israel that don't exist for other countries in the US and UK. Sentiments that don't align with Israel's perspective or actions are often considered antisemitic. A difference of opinion isn't always racially motivated or driven by prejudice. There are related laws in respect to businesses that prevents them from boycotting Israel. If you follow the anti-Starbucks crusade you'll find more information on the subject.

The movement isn't anti-capitalist or anti-Israel it's anti-control. They won't be forced to support something they don't agree with. Whether the government or university officials feel otherwise. People speak out about America all the time. But you're not allowed the same latitude with Israel (or topics related to Jews) without pushback. It was bound to happen. Palestine was the tipping point.

For there is nothing hidden that will not become evident, nor anything secret that will not be known and come out into the open.

Wow. Columbia has 34,000 students.
Wow. 30% are international.
Wow. That's almost 9,000.foreign students.
A few hundred were demonstrating.
I'm guessing that most of the demonstrators might be middle Eastern, horrified and appalled at the human rights atrocities against their own ethnic and faith group.

As I've described it, it is an attack against the governments of Israel and the United States. I do believe some of the hatred from the radical Islamists is a jealousy, the World Trade Center was a symbol of capitalism and what capitalism can achieve. The hard left wants to "fundamentally change America" but hasn't really described what their neo-Marxist utopia should look like. They both are at the stage of tearing down our country and our way of life.

More like spoiled children fueled by radical Islamist professors.

Thank you for posting. I had not heard Netanyahu's remarks before. He is right. The bigotry and racism in this country needs to stop, and stop now. We need to end all DEI, CRT, and other forms of racism from being taught at our universities. Those responsible for the hate crimes should be prosecuted and sentenced to prison.

Define "attack". Help me understand how a legal, demonstration is an attack.... ON YOUR COUNTRY.

Imagine that! being opposed to authoritarianism, apartheid, and genocide!

Since when has @Valletta been opposed to the current US government?

Its' true, it hasn't been described yet. It's almost like it's not even happenning.
