  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trent Horn's new book looks timely and very good

He tweeted the cover art yesterday which was the first I heard about the book, but it seems very appropriate for our time and I hope it at least gives Catholics comfort in how to live in such times if not solutions to push back and help correct it.

I dropped a hint to my wife today that I'd like it for my birthday in a few weeks, and by dropped a hint I said "I'd like this for my birthday".

I like that in the blurb he calls out Fr James Martin too, heh.

I want to read it too. By the way…( I’d like it for my Birthday) is not a hint. It’s a request. Probably already in your home somewhere. Lol! ;)

Trent's a good writer. I've read his book The Case for Catholicism and the arguments were well-presented and well-cited. Has he given any more details on what the book's going to be about?

Yeah I'm not a vague person when I want something, in the past I would've just ordered it myself but I figured I'd give a gift idea this time around, ha!
